Michigan Football Transfer Portal News
Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines Football Program sniffed around two transfer portal targets with Rocco Spindler and Pat Coogan. However both will end up elsewhere.

Another thing is that the two from Notre Dame may have wanted too much money for that position in NIL and Sharon Moore is not gonna pay them a lot more than they’re worth and shouldn’t. Otherwise, he may have problems with all the other players. He and the other coaches probably have other people in mindthat they would bring in if they needed more. I trust what Sharone is doing as he has been doing very well so far.

Agreed. With Haywood and Babalola developing this year and the # of returning dudes from this year’s starters UM will be fine on the OL this year AND in 2026.

@@ddavis1786 Brady Norton is looking to be a 3rd stringer. The risk of crowding someone out is high enough. Keep the same 5 tackles 3 years?? They say that the OL needs to work together a long time to get smooth. That sounds like a good reason to rotate and mix the line up right away (before end of the season injuries make them anyway.

That won’t do them any good if we don’t win now. The coaches will leave and players will transfer if we can’t use the portal to help right away.

@@andrewrobinson3882 Maybe??? That's one more reason to keep some cash on hand. I think Moore/Underwood is going to get a mulligan year 1. I see the whole thing going down the tubs, if they don't WIN a National in the next 3 years though. 3, 2nd place finishes, won't cut it this time. They want the trophy.

Guys, can we try to have a little faith in Sheron and his coaches? They’ve proven skills in spotting talent like Norton, Mason Graham, etc. and helped develop the past OLs into Joe Moore award winners - ironic that both our HC and the Moore Award have the same last name? 😊 The facts of this year’s recruiting approach speak for themselves - yes, we need good portal adds in some spots , but to build the right team culture of Team Over Me and Those Who Stay Will Be Champions, the coaches are prioritizing HS recruits as players they can develop best to fit the team’s needs and culture…just a few observations from our 8-5 season. Go Blue!

I feel good, not worried unless there are mass injuries on the o-line. They still have spring ball, summer conditioning and fall to get in rhythm. We now have legit arm talent, 1 proven, 1 with a high floor and ceiling and 1 that has come a long way in Davis. I'm sure teams will stuff the box until the pass game is proven. Once proven, the sky could be the limit. Our D is what you saw against Bama with very good portal transfers and freshman coming in. 10 wins should be the floor for Michigan in 2025.

Depends on how the OL shakes out next year. Could be concerning or it might not matter at all because the current OL takes some steps forward and the addition of a decent QB helps too.

Neither one could register for winter semester so could not practice until summer. UM doesn’t make athletic exceptions for these late transfer like everyone else. Another disadvantage along with credit refusals for transfers. We just are not on a level playing field when it comes to the transfer portal.

Haywood set his commitment date on Friday before the visit for coolant. Could be a silent commitment for Haywood and announcement Monday made coolant nil visit not necessary

Can you give any update on the other O-line players you did not mention? How are they progressing. I understand the need to add talent from the portal but I wonder if it costs Michigan future talent when guys like 3 star Bounds 6’8” 305# or 4 star Gentry 6’7” 327# leave. Is that happening do to lost opportunity to play or something else?

Until Michigan admission policy lighten up on spring admission, they will continue to have misses
@jdemille79
@jdemille79 6 күн бұрын
That won't happen. Michigan is first and foremost an academic institution and they will not compromise that for athletes, even if other schools do it. Like it or not this is how Michigan rolls.

@jdemille79 Well, meanwhile then stop blaming coaches for the portal players they are not getting, and yall are delusional if you don't think Michigan not letting up a little on spring admission not going to come and bite them at some point. And you can't compete in the portal with other schools with portal players if they don't lighten up on the spring admission policy. And please stop blaming the coaches for not getting portal players when the blame should be towards admission policy. Because you can't have it both ways.

There was “reason to be concerned” with our portal strategy last season. There is reason to fire Sean Magee after 3 sub par transfer windows at positions of need. We went 1-15 on 4* transfers we pursued this window, meanwhile Sean Magee keeps publicly bragging about his “nfl style positional value chart” and his refusal to take part in bidding wars. The UofM media needs to stop sugar coating these misses. We had several needs this window (QB,OT,WR,CB) for immediate impact players and we had to take plan D and F guys if we were to get anybody at all. That’s how you end up starting walk ons a season after winning a natty. Moore has proven he can win on the field,recruit HS, and build a great culture, but if we keep Sean Magee and his portal strategy it’ll all be for nothing as Moore will get fired and his great HS recruits will transfer

OL starters as true freshman are very rare. Babalola is very talented and gifted physically but he’s also very raw. I think he’s played 3 years of organized football in his life.

How so.. defense had 1 real hole at FS.. metcalf will fill that.. oline they got Hattar to replace Priebe.. Sparuge and link will man the tackles and El Hadi Crippen came back.. Haynes and Marshall replace Edward’s Mullings.. Mcculley Fred Moore and Semaj will be your 3 receivers with some depth there.. loosing Tyler Moore was upsetting.. TE imo is the biggest production loss.. but should be okay.. they retooled the DLine and depth.. Stewart Guy Barham off edges on 3rd will be solid.. as long as the offense isn’t ranked 130… and around 30-50… they could easily go 10-2.. even 12-0

If Michigan is a “tier above” Nebraska then why does Nebraska have the #1 transfer class in the Big10? Just because a team hasn’t been winning lately doesn’t mean they’re in a different tier as a program. Whatever you gotta tell yourself to rationalize your beliefs, but just because you’re rationalizing it for yourself, doesn’t make it objectively true.
