Just want to let you know that I've been watching your videos for years and I won't book a campground until I learn about the CG from you first! Thanks for all your high-quality work!

We are new RV-ers and I have been watching your videos for a while now to learn about the best places in beautiful Michigan, thank you!

We have so many great places here, and this state park project has made us realize how spoiled we all are by having so many awesome things to see and do around the state. Thanks for watching!

UPDATE: I misspoke in the video. Although Petoskey Stones are technically filled with fossils, they are not the state fossil but are actually the official state stone of Michigan. The state fossil of Michigan, if you're wondering, is the Mastodon. -Ari

But can you keep Petosky stones if you find them?? Looks like a nice park to visit during the week for smaller crowds. There are advantages to being retired. Thanks again for the great video.

According to Michigan law, people are prohibited from removing more than 25 pounds of rock or minerals per year from state parks, recreation lands and Great Lakes bottomlands. So, as long as you don't go crazy collecting stones, you should be OK! :)

Hey Trekers. Finally found you guys. We camped Brimley State park last weekend and seen you two doing a vlog at the picnic table on a site. Little searching and seen a thumbnail with the van. Keep up the good work.

That's great! Thanks for searching for us. We're in southern Michigan this weekend doing park number 91. A lot more videos are on the way!

I am looking for a great campground for our family adventures this summer... my little one is 7 and 10 ... looking to find some awesome rocks, biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking... around Charlexvoix or Petosky... which one would you recommend?
@Trekers3 жыл бұрын
Petoskey State Park and Young State Park are probably your best bets in that area. If you can do rustic camping, Fisherman's Island is a nice one, although high water levels have taken out part of a road there and they've shut down a number of sites until the DNR can evaluate things in the spring. (Note, Fisherman's Island is named for the island off the coast -- the park itself is not on an island. 😀) Good luck with your search and safe travels!

Looked like a great park with the exception of the close quarters. Love the option of beach or hiking. I like how clear you sound. What type of microphone are you using?
@Trekers5 жыл бұрын
It was close quarters, but it still had a good feel to it; kind of hard to describe. The two different beaches are a nice touch. As for sound, we use a Zoom H1 Handy Recorder with an external mic and then sync the file to our video recording. If it's a really quiet environment (or if having a second unit would be tough due to conditions), then we tend to just use the audio from our GoPro 7 Black. GoPro has come a long way in terms of audio quality. I then process all it through Premiere Pro to stabilize it and clean it up. -Ari

@@Trekers Thanks for the information. I noticed a lapel mic when you were at the beach and it was windy. I think that's what i'm interested in. Audio has been one of the things I've been struggling with. Thanks again. ~Lucy

@@WhoaNellieRVAdventures Audio being clear is super important. The Zoom recorder has built-in mics, but we also use a Purple Panda lapel mic with a "dead cat" wind protector that plugs right into the recorder. It has been a great combination for a limited investment. -Ari
