I don’t think the NFL will hire Wink. Wink had two brilliant games last year preceded by 12 mediocre games. I don’t see an NFL GM betting his job on hiring Wink. I think Wink excels for us next year and an NFL snaps him up in 2026. We land Ty Haywood and this recruiting & portal class will win us a couple National Championships.

Mallory is intriguing. NFL & college DC experience + apparently was a huge factor in coverage schemes during his 2 years at Michigan. The best DCs are former DBs and LBs. Mike Elston is the DL coach, Clinkscale is the secondary coach for the Chargers. Him and Moore had a falling out, apparently. Dumb move. He should have stayed, and he could’ve been the DC in waiting, Wink was never gonna stay at AA long term. Pride is a mofo.

I think Chris Hewitt should get consideration. He is the passing game coordinator for the Ravens. No more room for promotions in Baltimore. Could be a Mike McDonald situation where he is here for 1 year before the NFL comes calling, but it gives Lamar Morgan one more year under the Ravens system to be ready to take over

If Wink does leave, it would be nice to try and find a guy who will stay longer than 1-2 seasons. Really tough to keep recruiting at a high level with a revolving door. On Haywood, I think he’d be crazy if he goes anywhere else. I’m sure they showed him the multiple Moore awards. Heck, we already have one 5*, pair him with Haywood and watch Bryce and the running game dominate.

I don’t think an NFL team will hire Wink this year. Wink had 12 mediocre to awful games last year and ended with two brilliant games. I don’t think a GM will bet his job on Wink this year. I think Wink excels next year as our D coordinator then an nfl team snaps him up in 2026.

Wink has a system that has been proven to slow down elite passing teams which is exactly what Michigan needs to maintain their domination over osu. Mike, Jesse and now wink have the D rolling. Glad how it finished...BUT, all he had to so was not fook it up. Once he stopped fooking it up ( ridiculous blitzes, Graham playing end, putting inexperienced guys on an island) he did fine. Going into the seasons I thought this was one of best defense in UM history. In the end, they were EVEN without Will Johnson.
