I never will forget the first time I heard Eva....I had my PBS channel running one Saturday evening and I was standing in my kitchen making a sandwich...and this voice came out of the speakers of my television and I stopped the spreading of my mayonnaise and dropped the knife...the hair's on my arms and the back of my neck stood up on end...I immediately went into the living room and sat on my couch watching this beautiful women singing somewhere over the rainbow...the tears started flowing and just chills up and down my spine...I have been singing and playing the guitar since I was 11....been around music my whole life.... hearing her for the first time was a religious experience....of course I didn't know that she had already passed... didn't know anything about this beautiful angel sent from God to touch us...it's that way with all of the very special one's....it's like the Lord is saying ok you can have this one for a short time and then I'm taking her back...and we are so glad that he let us experience this wonderful talent....we are all better people because of it...💘💘💘💘

Until moments ago I had never heard of Eva. I had just finished listening to Sting sing Fields of Gold and I saw her thumbnail above it with over 16ml views so I figured she must be an up and coming beautiful young talent so I played her rendition and was blown away by how great it was. So I played it again, and then again. I started reading the comments and saw one in which the commenter said Sting himself rated Eva's version the most beautiful he had ever heard including his own. And then I read a few more comments and found out she had died years ago. Until moments ago I had never heard of her. Thank God for Eva and thank God for KZbin and those who post here.

Everything she's doing is pretty basic beside the guitar playing. What Eva’s voice could do with lyrics to the songs she chose to sing made me stop dead in my tracks. I believe the first I found was Fields of Gold years back & I was devastated to learn that she lived so briefly. What gifts she gave to the world in her repertoire. I’ve had many of her songs on repeat through the years as listening to her is so soothing, soul searching, affirming & inspiring. Her delivery seemed so effortless yet the passion was in every phrase. She had me in the palm of her hand from the moment that songbird opened her mouth! Rest in God’s peace, Eva. And, thank you. Eva's "day job" for a long time was working at Behnke's, a local nursery. She was very fond of the place. My late wife worked there too, though not at the same time; I think she heard some stories about Eva. We both loved her music. I feel that you can hear in Eva's performances something elemental and close to nature: "unadorned" but deeply beautiful.

I think her artistic restraint is one of the biggest components of her amazing ability. If you take some of the great female singers like Aretha Franklin, or Céline Dion… they almost always manage to find a way in their vocal performances to go ‘over the top’, whereas Eva goes right to the edge of it, but she never goes over - beyond the bounds of good taste. She is practically unerring in that ability... to push the music as far as it will go, but not beyond it. I believe (and feel) that her music is a fantastic gift to the world. ❤️

When you think you have heard all of the talented and skilled singers..you may become one of the lucky one's to be introduced to Eva Cassidy. Eva had a rare gift of a special kind. Her music is beautiful in a way that goes straight to the heart and touches long forgotten feeling. Sad that she was taken away so young. Eva shares her rare and beautiful gift with us even today years after her passing.

Well, Not only am I a new (old - 71) fan of Eva's, but I must say I'm glad that something made me click on this 'window' & give a listen to what Mick Fleetwood had to say about her. I'm quite impressed with the way he was plain-spoken yet eloquent in describing her and the business to which I'm SO glad and respectful of the way she said, "Not interested." What a well put and appreciative tribute to a great artist, Mick!

Her rendition of Over the rainbow I feel is done how it should have been. I played it at my husbands funeral. It was perfect.

IMHO Most, if not all, of the covers she produced were either orchestrated or interpreted better than the original artist.

The first time I heard her was on the radio in my car in a grocery store parking it. Her singing Fields of Gold brought my to tears ....first listen in the middle of a parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. Incredible.

An absolutely gorgeous woman with the voice of an angel I don’t know of anyone else that could sing these songs with more love and affection than she does. My favourite singer by a mile. RIP Eva x

The first time I ever heard Eva's precious voice was on CHFI FM Toronto, and she was singing, "Over The Rainbow". I was totally captivated, and have been ever since. How does one define vocal perfection? Just think, Eva Cassidy, and you've defined it!

Several years ago I was driving listening to Sirius XM tuned to “Coffee House” channel. I heard a cover of “True Colors” that just blew me away. I had never heard a more amazing voice from someone I had never heard of. Eva Cassidy was an awesome talent.

there should be a record label called "It" for all those talents that don't fit into this modern mainstream stuff. Love Eva forever!

With Eva, it wasn't about the money, fortune or fame, it was about her putting her own personal mark on music which wasn't spotted by managers. Many folk are shy, but are geniuses like her knowing exactly what they are doing and are way ahead of their time however don't get noticed. With you Eva, sadly your amazing talent was only recognised way after your death, the same as many artist who died penniless. Like them your works of art will be able tobe shared by everyone forever...

Notice how Mick refers to her as simply Eva, never Eva Cassidy. In my experience, I've found the same from her fans. We feel like she is a friend that we are on a first name basis with. Eva will always be alive in our hearts. Best wishes & love to all of Eva's fans around the world, Ted
