Theres a couple of matches I can't ever watch back. Shibata vs Okada (the one with the headbutt), Eddie Guerrero vs JBL at Judgement Day (the one where Eddie nearly bled to death in the ring) and The Rock vs Mick Foley I Quit. Theres Hardcore....then theres matches where people are literally killing each other and it just gets to the point where it's just hard to watch I am glad Mick Foley is still with us, let alone still with his wits about him.

Same here. I was like 12 and never really grasped the magnitude of the steel chair shot back then. Mick friggin offered up his back at the end and Rock paused with chair in hand above his head and waited for Foley to lift his head up and present it; the final shot when Mick’s not even looking and facing him really irks tf outta me dude fr

No the rock didn't have to apologize, mic said he wanted to strangle him for how many times as he was getting stitched up but he understood it was for the match, they did talk after the mic was check outed by the docs at after about 9 mins 40, it was a misunderstanding, rock was trying to finish the match and get mic up the stage. They were in the middle of the performance and it looked brutal but I don't believe there was any malice intent by the rock kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIfLen-Bi9yBjdUsi=Hhwn9G_ygpLXQsmK

and think about all the stars who emerged out of that era of course you had Stone Cold, Rock, Undertaker...but also Mick, Kane, Kurt Angle, Y2J, Triple H...and then the WCW guys like Booker T, Steiner, Sting, Rey Mysterio etc. and then on top of all that ECW guys like RVD, Sabu hell...even midcard guys were massively popular. New Age Outlaws, Rikishi, Godfather, Val Venis, Al Snow lmao
@connormcmahon89395 ай бұрын
True, however RVD and Sabu were well established at this point. In fact I think WWE killed Tazz, limited RVD and disrespected Sabu. And that was Vinces ego... you know the rapist 😮

They cut the reaction from Mick’s family out of the event on Peacock. They actually censor quite a bit on that platform, like removing all the music performances from wrestlemania. It’s infuriating, I wish the WWE streaming service was still around.

There are multiple times in the chair shot sequence where Mick is *obviously* communicating to Dwayne to go for a shot to the back but he goes out of his way to find a different angle and hit him in the BACK of the fucking head instead! Never liked Dwayne "Piss Bottles" Johnson, never will.

Ted Dibiase has a good talk on why WWE went downhill after it abandoned the good-evil archetypes (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYKTfZ2Cor6nfNU). One could argue that the fact that WWF was a draw in the first place was a sign of the decline of US society--after all, most kids who watched it at the time thought it was real--but this kind of thing was proof that something had gone very wrong.

Mick that match was stupid.
@Gardenhoser865 ай бұрын
Rocky was still relatively young and newer atp that I think if he really “went into business for himself” with the doubled amount of chair shots that Foley absolutely would’ve confronted him over it. Na Micks a smart guy, he probably realized that it went down like that with Vince’s signing off on it and wanting that to happen, so Foley just let it go.

@@saljewsteinbergowitz Did you even watch the match? Or even this video? It was only supposed to be 5 shots, and turned into 11 shots. All unprotected.
