Mick's a legend man. I mean sure, there's a lot of wrestlers I'd like to meet, but Mick is one of 3 I'd actually like to hang out with for a day and get to know as a person, not just performer. He put himself through HELL and somehow is still humble. Like no Mick, there are people who are gifted careers in the WWE, then there's you, who ripped, tore, and bled his way to the top. You earned it, and you should wear that with pride. Bret Hart and Glen Jacobs being the other two (Kane, another man who you'd think wouldn't be humble but is, it's crazy lol)

Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack) beat Triple H in 1997 on Monday Night Raw in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Undertaker lost a Casket Match to Yokozuna at the 1994 Royal Rumble and lost one to Goldust at In Your House: Beware of Dog a few months before the Buried Alive Match.

I believe this match happened on my birthday 20th October (certainly one, in fact I think 2 different buried alive matches happened on 20th October with one being against Kane I think) as I always remember seeing the grave stone with my date of birth (obviously not the same year as I wasn’t born 1996) that’s why it sticks in my mind. Edit: Yes the Mankind buried alive match happened on 20th October and was the only one to take part on that date. The Kane buried alive match was on the 24th October which is close that’s probably why I thought 2 matches happened on the 20th October

One of the things I think is a problem with a company now and in general is that all of those things that were the Golden Age of modern day professional wrestling they're gone they were just so good those matches for individuals who put it on the line in ways that nobody else can contemplate When you're talking about the history of matches between the undertaker and Mick Foley fully they did so many different various things in a small amount of time that I think both of them could not do more than what they had already done because of and to a certain extent continued as they had been from a purely simple standpoint of They were not gonna be able to keep doing it Mic foley was willing to sacrifice himself in dangerous ways and put the company in significant liability and Vince did not want him to do that and kind of had to hold people back in certain occasions in certain matches because getting significant injuries at that time was great concern because at that point in wrestler's contracts the company was not paying any health insurance it wasn't until And I forget the match and it was after Owen Hart's accident the injury was significant enough to warrant a company actually starting to pay For the talents health plan That means any injuries occurred all medical treatments treatments that they needed to undergo the company had to pay for Now it's simply an issue anymore everything is covered in the contracts retirements health plans benefits workers comp et cetery it's all in contract now but back in those days with TLC matches and the Hell in a cell matches and the more violent the matches got the greater the danger risk of significant injury that the company was going you have to pay for and that's why they don't do it anymore today is because for what the talent is not capable of those kind of matches it number 2 it's just too dangerous

Man, the 90's had so many gifted storytellers, and WWE actually gave them the creative freedom to use those abilities. The results were long-term stories with fantastic payoffs. Now, every wrestler has to essentially read promos off scripts approved by Vince. Every now and then they give wrestlers some creative freedom and the results are way better than anything creative comes up with (see Bray Wyatt). The point is, fucking hands off Vince, let your talent do the work for you!

He had better wrestling skills than he's given credit for. He was a decent amateur wrestler too. He just knew that people didn't want to see him using hip tosses and arm drags. They wanted to see chairs, tables, and thumbtacks.

Mick Foley has got to be one of the greatest story tellers of all time. I’m not just saying in wrestling either. Really as a person in general.

Mick is a great story teller. Very articulate and well spoken. Given how many head shots he’s taken, it’s a miracle he’s still coherent.
