Hey guys! I'm so happy that I can finally post a new video, even if it isn't one of my "normal" edits. Don't have enough time for that at the moment. :( Hopefully I can post more videos and edits soon!

Don't get me wrong. I actually liked this episode and thought there are some really good scenes between our boys. But then came this porch scene and most of the episode was ruined for me, because I've never thought there would be anything to discuss about monogamy between Ian and Mickey. Both are jealous, especially Mickey - the real Mickey would NEVER want to have an open relationship when it comes to Ian. NEVER.
And not just that. It also seemed as Mickey already cheated on Ian. I hope so much that I'm wrong about this and it's all a huge misunderstanding, which is going to be fixed in the next episode. But I also think this topic will just be dropped like always and we'll never hear about this again. So yeah, whatever. Hopefully the next episode will leave me feeling happy again ;)

That's not true at all, they messed up a Lil bit at the begining of the season but I completely disagree with the statement that they threw away his character. It's just a new world for him, and after the first episode you can really see Mickey finding himself again.

Many of the comments here express outrage, disappointments and anxieties about Mickey's character development. Having JUST binge-watched all 10 seasons - up to the first 2 episodes of season 11 in one go, all just for Gallavich - here's my take on what the writers are trying to portray. Ian fell in love with Mickey first, but Mickey - inarticulate, volatile and closeted - fell hard for Ian - even though it took him longer to get there, and to admit it. He is CRAZY, deeply in love with Ian. Mickey is the love of Ian's life but Ian is the ONLY man Mickey will ever love. Meaning ... IF they were ever to separate, Ian will be able to love someone else - even if not as deeply as he loves Mickey. On the other hand, Mickey will never again love any other man. He will have casual hookups but will stay unattached. Ian had two other serious boyfriends when he was apart from Mickey - but Mickey was unattached during that entire time. He committed a crime to protect Ian, and went to prison for it - and then rolled on the cartel and gave up freedom in Mexico, just to be in prison with Ian. This, even after Ian refused to escape with him to Mexico. Ian was the more promiscuous of the two, partly because of his mental illness - especially when he was in a manic state - but also because he was always more comfortable with his sexuality. Mickey was jealous and protective when Ian was with other men - but the scene where Ian told Mickey he took part in a porno film - it was clear he broke Mickey's heart. The silent tears Mickey could not hold back was as heartbreaking as the scene when Mickey acknowledged that Ian was breaking up with him, and again when Ian told Mickey he could not go to Mexico with him. Mickey being with Byron on the rebound, on the other hand, didn't seem to upset Ian much - or made him very jealous. The adjustments from the honeymoon period to married life can be particularly tough even for "normal", well adjusted couples. For these two especially - with non-existent parental role models - the only time they have ever been together for any stretch of time was when they were cell mates, the difficulties are inevitable. They never really had a "normal" relationship ... they didn't date, or had the chance to just be young and in love. They certainly never learned to communicate. Unlike Ian, Mickey has never held a regular job. He has anger management issues. Against the backdrop of the pandemic and the high unemployment rate in their area, it is no wonder Mickey is having a hard time adjusting and just generally zoning out. He is depressed but lacks even the minimal self-awareness it takes to recognize his own feelings. Ian's constant nagging - especially in front of others - makes Mickey feel both guilty and resentful. So he reacts in the usual Mickey way ... aggression, defiance, don't-give-a-shit defensiveness. Obviously, this kind of behavior is unsustainable in a relationship, much less in a marriage. The porch conversation should only have focused on their need to communicate honestly with each other - and the handling of their finances - which inevitably includes the elephant in the room ... the need for Mickey to find a regular job instead of falling back on the only way he's ever known - making money by illegal means. By also throwing monogamy into the mix, Ian threw a grenade on Mickey's already shaky self-esteem. From his facial expressions and physical reactions, it is clear Mickey is afraid of what he thinks Ian is really trying to say. He peeks at Ian's answer. He wants monogamy but is too proud to express his vulnerability and his real desire for exclusivity. If his answer is "open relationship" - which is by no means a sure thing - it is only to pretend he wants what he THINKS Ian wants. It's a good bet that in future episodes, Mickey will admit his fear of losing Ian and that he doesn't want an open marriage. At heart, Mickey is a one-man man. He has always been Ian's man. Fresh from watching the entire series in one go, Mickey's character in season 11 is actually not ooc. Instead, it is a portrait of a man who is much more poorly adjusted, who has been far more ravaged by a brutal father than Ian - who, in spite of a tough childhood, knows he was nevertheless loved by his mentally ill, drug addicted mother and - even in Frank's drunk and neglectful way - by his father as well, and certainly by his siblings.

I had the same thoughts, and it’s a relief to see an explanation for what otherwise seems like a mess and a letdown after such intense build-up to their beautiful wedding. I just hope the writers do right by the characters and have them work through their issues in a way that honours their love for each other.

I dont think either character is acting like they were. I always thought they did better a way fron the rest of the Gallaughers. They never tried to hide their opinion of Milkovich family or blaming Mickey for way Ian may act or react. The way I see it is they don't know the chair of it and secondly Mickey always protected Ian and sheltered him from the harsher realities of this world. He is only one found him brought him home and got him to check in go back get meds.

Honestly, I think that Mickey is much simpler than Ian when it comes to relationships. He's with his husband and he's happy, that's all he needs. He wants Ian to be happy too and, based on their conversation, he didn't think Ian would want monogamy, so he wrote the opposite to keep the peace. As for the money aspect, I wonder if he bought them a new place without telling Ian...or is in the process of...and wants to make it a surprise. He didn't strike me so much as being out of character as that there was something big that he wasn't being entirely forthcoming about.

I was just so happy that they're back I was choosing to ignore these things but you're so right about this being OOC. Mickey is always hustling and getting money so the idea of him being unemployed and not caring about money is definitely off and the monogamy part was just wrong. If Ian had indicated that he might not want to be fully monogamous that wouldn't be nearly as OOC but they just wanted to make Mickey look bad this episode.

No but he is also emotionally vulnerable and about 90% perception. That scene, unless one is blind, shows him trying to figure out what Ian is putting down, because he wants whatever Ian wants. That is Mickey making a bad guess, not Mickey being ok with anyone touching his man, which we know he isn't.

it’s the way mickey has put everything on hold for ian, risked his own safety to make sure ian had somebody with him in prison, wanted to nurse him back to health, visited him after he escaped prison even though returning to a place full of people who knew him was perhaps the most dangerous way to get caught. for him to become so vulnerable and open with ian about how much getting married meant to him, only to then break all those building blocks and paint him as uncaring - that broke my heart.

What scares me is that they end up doing the same thing they did for the most part of season 10: using their bickering for some kind of comic relief (I still can't with the plot of ian thinking for real that mickey killed someone and vice-versa...). I mean, I get they don't want to go with angst because we had lots of seasons with gallavich angst, but there are other ways of creating a plot and conflict that doesn't involve completely destroying all the character development that Mickey had from season 1-7. I mean, Ian and Mickey's relationship are far from perfect and they have tons of issues and old grudges (Hello? Mexico anyone?) that needed to be worked on, without this bullshit, man. Whatever. Last season they were discussing if they wanted to have kids before getting married. Last seasons whole plot was a lot of discussion happening before the wedding. This season they've magically "never had a discussion about what they want out of the marriage". Last season Mickey was tearfully demanding a commitment. I will say that I at least liked their affection in this episode. Ian putting his hand on Mickey’s when he was in the tub and his hand on Mickey’s knee when they were on the porch. Not to mention Mickey calling Ian stud and lover in the kitchen in addition to their kiss and sharing of both coffee and toast. At least that stuff was good.

Theory: Mickey acted in that way because he is trying to enjoy the moment without thinking about the future because in his mind good things never last forever. If this is the case I hope they'll explain it soon, I'll not watch 11 episodes of him being a jerk and then finding out in the last episode why Maybe he wrote he wants to be with other people because he was scared to be the only one to want monogamy (I refuse to believehe actually wants it), but honestly I would enjoy more another explanation: he really spelt "monogamy" wrong and he is actually ashamed of it. I mean in the last scene of the episode we see Ian point to Mickey's tattoo "Ian Galagher" that he spelt wrong, so MAYBE they did it for remember us that he already had problems with spelling words or maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Honestly I would love to see Mickey dealing with his gab and his education as a storyline in season 11. Honestly I doubt this would be the case because the writers seem to hate Mickey. It's like they don't want him to be a fan favourite so they start ruin him... but they can't, i don't care what Mickey will do, I'll just blame the writers and pretend it never happened. I think maybe he really did just misspell it and was embarrassed.... or he was just unsure what Ian wanted. He was really confused about it when Ian brought it up, like that was a total non issue to him and worried about why Ian would even mention that. I remember that stage of marriage, things can get confusing and if you haven’t already talked or worked out these kinds of things I can see why they might have some miscommunication. Based on their background and personality I think the writers are doing a good job. Mickey is not use to having a legal income or saving money for his future. Whereas Ian understands what it's like to work and budget his income - paying bills and saving from the little he earns. Right now I think Ian is afraid of Mickey going back to jail. Ian wants Mickey to get a legal job. I believe this is going to be another level of growth and maturity for Mickey. As for the conversation on the step. I think Mickey was a bit uncomfortable because he thought Ian was still mad at him for using their money. Also, based on their past I think the monogamy conversation was important because they both struggled with infidelities in the past (mostly Ian when he is manic). I think Mickey was relieved that Ian wanted monogamy. I think Mickey did spell it incorrectly 😂😂. He did not even know what the word means 😂😂. The first 2 years of marriage is usually the most trying. They will be fine.

Love this compilation anyway. Noel fisher is such a great actor but this is the only character that I feel has given him justice. I met Cameron Monaghan a couple weeks ago at a dunkin donuts while I was vlogging in Albany, NY. He let me go in front of him in line because he was waiting for his app to load. I played It cool, but I love him so much! I still have to edit the video tho. Right now I'm editing a storytime about how my EX best friend & I lost our virginity to the same guy & he was MY boyfriend.. I thought about it and I guess, that Mickey is scared. I mean the money spending etc. is very Mickey likely, so I think that he didn‘t changed much. I guess, that he Is scared, that Ian leaves him one day and he is not the Mickey he used to be anymore, and that scares him. He is worried, that he gets too soft and leans to much in (dificult not to do when your married btw) and than he gets Heart broken. Alsough he has problems to leave the Past behind him and start a scary Adventure (maybe thats one of the real reasons, why he spent the Money, because an own house is a really big, scary step) So all in all he is scared that he stops being Mickey if he is in a Monogamy with Ian, and he thinks, that f*cking other People and stuff is getting him out of the scary Future, he Kind of wants but kind of don‘t I really would Love to hear, what yall think about that :)

I think that's why he wanted to get married so bad, but now he's realising that been married is not a guarantee they'll be together forever, I don't think he knows any married couples who haven't divorce so he is trying not to think about the future and just enjoy the moment because he didn't have many happy things in his life, and the one he had were all related to Ian, they always end really soon leave him heartbroken. Shameless can still save this. We need a Mickey meltdown. Just panicked break down because he’s terrified of losing Ian by becoming “an overbearing nurse” again. Because Mickey never dealt with all of his issues. He knows Ian can (and has previously) left Mickey and moved on with other people. Yeah, it’s been years but that kind of trauma on top of everything else Mickey has been through doesn’t fade. Mickey very possibly is just trying to fill the role that Ian said he fell for. He just needs Ian to notice the pain he’s in and remind him that he’s not just a fuck up.

yeah Ian cheated when they dated. You editors and commentors never let us forget. Season 5, he was manic on the verge of a psychotic break and was having hyper sexuality behaviors. Mickey cheated twice in ep.12 season 5 (for those who want to deny it) with red haired girl in his room and cupcake in the park. Why? Because he was mad that Ian left military jail with his mom and didn't answer his call or was it payback for Ian having sex with guy he made a porno with? Anger or revenge? Either way it was cheating. Y'all say Ian's bipolar don't excuse bad behavior but anger/frustration/revenge does! Oh wait, it's Mickey! Do No wrong Mickey! The favoriite character treatment. Mickey cheating on Ian!!! Maybe THAT was a dream! And IRL, many gay men in committed relationships don't think oral sex is cheating but pretty sure it was an agreement first.

Bitch please, being bipolar doesn't means that you can excuse cheating, hiper sexuality doesn't means you will want to have sex with other people anyway or anyhow. Recently we had a case of an homophobic woman here in my country who wanted to excuse her homophobic break down and aggressive behavior on that fact she was having a manic episode. I'm bipolar myself and I tell you this is utter bullshit. So yeah, while being manic can be taken in consideration in a situation like Ian's, it is not an excuse. Same for Mickey, Mickey doesn't know how to deal with his feelings and he screw other people in revenge, it's some issues that need to be deal with, but that was not the point of the dialogue of the episode or this edit, it was not about them dealing with their actual issues but creating new ones in order to parody gay couples for the purpose of comic relief.

They both cheated in the pass, Ian when he was manic and Mickey when Ian was with Monica and wasn’t answering his calls. The only difference, Ian always gets blamed and Mickey gets excused. I Iove them and they’re the only reason I started watching Shameless again but it bothers me when people even now are down on Ian. A lot of them claim to be Gallavich’s fans but don’t like 1/2 of the couple.

Mickey was completely out of character after remembering how very jealous he is regarding Ian . Although the scene seemed funny to me, I did not end up liking it at all. I thought Ian would have more trouble adjusting to marriage than Mickey.

I agree with you. I have a theory that until s5e12 Mickey had never been with another man. When he said that he had in Juvie he was lying, so as to not appear to have missed Ian too much. This is why when Ian was with Monica, he defaulted to a woman. Then picked up the guy in the park. He would have had sex with men in prison and Mexico. The Milkoviches are all known to be highly sexed. Not being monogamous as long as they are together, kind of makes sense to me for s11. Even if it wouldn't have in the early seasons.

Totally agree with you regards the money. He used it to buy things they needed, not luxuries. Ian had only had a job for a couple of weeks. What did he think that they had been living on? Mickey possibly felt the safest he ever had at this time. Not having to risk anything to get money (until Ian found out) and being married to Ian (not having to fight to be with him anymore). The whole thing was funny to me. The running joke is how a woman will marry a man with the idea that he will change after they marry and all the annoying/bad bits will miraculously disappear. Ian got exactly who he married and then proceeded to try and change him and then got upset when Mickey didn't change. Sound familiar. He even acknowled in s10 that Mickey was funding the wedding by criminal means. The only legal jobs he had ever had was whilst on parole. Mickey is someone who has always needed to be pushed into action though. Ian would still be working in that club if Mandy hadn't told Mickey to go find him. He was definitely wanting to see what Ian wrote regards monogamy. Though I do think that it fit that they decided, only if together. Milkoviches are highly sexed people. So many children lol. in prison and Mexico he would have had other men and probably enjoyed it.

No. These writers are high-key BAD WRITERS. I would be PISSED if I were Emma Kenney (Debbie). Her character has become a caricature of what Seasons 1-8 set-up; she has zero depth aside from her interactions with Franny. Lip is the ONLY character to still be in touch with his development, which in itself is just tragic but fitting for a Gallagher. Seriously though, the writing here almost makes me appreciate Dexter season 8 a little bit more.

I honestly don't understand the hate toward Mickey. Especially about the monogamy scene. Ian and Mickey have never really had a monogamous relationship: Ian being with Kash, Ned and Trevor while sleeping with Mickey (not including his manic hookups) and Mickey constantly being in and out juvie/prison throughout the relationship and banging other people. This is the first time that they're being a 'normal' couple and not having to worry about evading the law, sneaking around, being locked up etc. and that includes addressing whether or not they intend on being monogamous. Now, do I think Mickey would cheat on Ian? Absolutely not. But I do agree with the idea that he might've not written "monogamy" because he thought that's what Ian would've written (remember in HOS, Ian almost hooking up with some random at the gym WHILE MARRIED). I also think this season is going to focus on Mickey trying to be a law abiding citizen, which is BRAND NEW to the man. At some point the characters need to grow up and move on from their youth shenanigans and for Mickey that looks like getting a legit 9-5, moving into a bouegey neighborhood and overall, being a softer person. Personally, I like the direction he's going.

Alot of the beloved Mickey character was sacrificed in s11 for comedic purposes. We did get some good stuff though. The Terry stuff was really powerful and freeing and we did get some good Gallavich communication eventually. The money thing in this episode did seem ooc. However, knowing that Ian didn't want him to do anything illegal may have made him reluctant to get money in his usual way. He was just spending it on the staples, not wasting it. The monogamy question may not have been completely ooc. I theorise that Mickey had never been with another man before the guy in the park, s5e12. He talks of having sex in Juvie but this may have been to save face. He was in prison and Mexico. Undoubtedly had sex with other men. As we discover in e7 the decided that they could be with other guys as long as they are together. It kind of makes sense to me. The Milkoviches have been referred to as being horny little rabbits when it comes to their multiple children. Of course, the same is probably for him. Most of Mickey's development in the early seasons was around his self acceptance and his relationship with Ian. He didn't have alot of social development where other people were concerned. Prison and working for a Mexican cartel probably didn't help this. He was never dumb, though not school smart. Initially they tried to imply this. I loved the Mickey character as did many others. I forgave alot this season just to have him back. I still wish that s1-5+7 Mickey could be happy.

Mickey didn’t vote for polygamy. A marriage is for life and it can seem overwhelming so there will be hesitation. However it was either both of them were fully committed or not. Then again I’m not one of the writers. They really could have destroyed all that character building in one episode. We reconvene as the season progresses.

Ok I've read thought these comments and I think people are missing many key ides that the show is trying to tell us. Mickeg is still mickey. Ian is still ian. But now that time has passed for the last few new seasons and the crazy shit they've been dealing with. Mickey and Ian are still trying to figure out how they want to do shit. Remember mickey and Ian are still new to all this. Sure Ian is Aware of all this and learned alot about being Gay and that but mickey hasn't. Last season he broke things off temporarily with Ian and found some lame Very typical gay. He doesn't understand the nuisance of being gay or dating. He loves Ian and to his character that is all that matters to him. Sure he has gotten over the fact he is gay and even defends the fact that he is gay and married to Ian. But still doesn't understand the basics of it. Also mickey spending money is somewhat strange but considering they live in the Gallagher house shows that he isn't worried or scared because he thinks he's home with Ian. Before he had to do all this shit because if he didn't he would've been most likely killed. Terry will want to kill mickey for being gay no debate about that. Also he is forced into the Milkovich family business of crime. Mickey is complex and isn't being turned into something else. He's trying to figure out what Ian is trying to get behind with asking about weither they want to be open or not. Also mickey fucked that twink last season but people forget and act like that doesn't add to mickeys complexity. Also its the first episode of a season of shameless. This is how it always is.

So, I definitely believe the writing is wrong starting off this season. For one, Ian and Mickey since they are married, should take over the Gallagher household, and shouldn't worry about getting their own place. With Lip moving into his own place with his little family, Ian and Mickey should take over. The concern should be how they can best run a household, and be happily married at the same time. The Gallavich storyline should be about them maturing and navigating through life newly married and with responsibility. It seems like they went a little backwards with their characters, especially Mickey. He has developed quite a bit and yet you didn't see his character growth in this episode. I truly hope they writers work on improving and evolving the Gallavich we fell in love with!
