The food in the banana leaves are "Horr-Mokk" (Curry pudding with the filling mostly are fish), but there are bamboo shoots and pork too. Another thing that you mention might be "Baa-Jang" (the steam rice with meat and nuts in the Chinese style) mostly wrapped in bamboo leaves, not banana leaves. The black insect was the cricket.

The food in banana leaf is Hor mok, personally I think it go very well with sticky rice , better to eat it with rice haha ha. Also, the insects are pretty good , I was afraid of it before but then after try it, its really great!
