Well spotted on the broken leg! I like the look of the little dentist type tool, can you remember what it is called? Great fix 👌👍

Thanks Vince! Glad to see you here! Keep up the great work on your channel. I also saw you hit 800k+ congratulations! I first saw the little tool on Northridgefix, he was using it to scrape away PCB mask on fine tracks like xbox HDMI ones to rebuild them with "pad strips". Here is a link to the tool I bought from ebay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275018156594 and here is a link to what he calls pad strips for rebuilding traces if you are interested www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284797499916 Hope that helps :) and thanks again for visiting!

@@BuyitFixit Nice one, I already bought those repair strips around a year ago but still haven't had the chance to use them. The tool though looks useful for many things including if a leg ever snaps off a chip, be nice to grind away the black covering to allow the chance to solder the leg back on. Just bought it, thanks very much for the link. Keep up the hard work 👍👍👍👍

That black paper disc is a dust cover for the joystick, it sits between the spring and top cover if I remember rightly

Hello from memory (about 38 years ago when I opened mine) the paper disc goes over the three position switch, a bit of a mask for the switch itself.
@BuyitFixit2 жыл бұрын
Oh right. Thanks for that. I've still got it on the bench so might pop it back in. Just fixed a couple of more things like this too.. just busy editing then uploading.

Hi, I took the frogger apart again as I'm repairing a couple of Grandstand Astro wars (future video) and there's a diode gone in one of them but there is no part number, and I was curious if the diode was the same or similar in the frogger game (as the part numbers are marked on the PCB). While I was in there I fit the paper circle over the game select / off switch, so thanks again for that.

@@BuyitFixit brill 👍 I also remember as a lad I partly peeled back one of the stickers, might have been the silver one underneath, and it had Japanese writing on. Also think the main sticker on the hood (yours is missing of course) was over the top of another sticker which I figured was also Japanese. Strange how I remember this seeing as I was about ten but I was a tinkerer even back then.

I bought this on ebay for 100 and the batteries don't work in it as they had leaked at some point, what AC adaptor shoukd I use? Says CGL but do they have different voltages? I had it as a kid and some silly bint dropped it and twas wrecked so had to get it in my 40s- 40yrs later 😀
@BuyitFixit Жыл бұрын
100 seems a bit pricey. I bought a job lot of 5 of these a few months back for £27. I've yet to do a video on them. I'd say a 6v to 9v adapter. I've just looked on Ebay and there's a universal 6 way 600mAh multi voltage adapter with different plugs to fit different devices. That should work. Be careful to get the polarity round the correct way though! 👍

Great video, a shame that there is missing a few pieces
@BuyitFixit2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a shame as you say, but on the plus side it was really cheap. People seem to be asking silly money for them on ebay search "CGL Frogger" not sure if they actually sell for that much though.
@merkatorix2 жыл бұрын
@@BuyitFixit What are you actually doing with the repaired ones? Do you collect them or are you selling it later? Do you know collectors for stuff like that?
@BuyitFixit2 жыл бұрын
@@merkatorix I'm not 100%. I'm probably going to keep things like the Milwaukee tools, but I'll probably end up just selling some of the repaired vintage stuff on ebay. That will help me to buy more broken stuff to repair.
