In a rare southern snow storm I had a blast building an igloo- I was 11yrs old. Wind chill was prolly -5. I was amazed (when I finished building) how very warm and quiet it was. Never have had so much fun. Thank you for the video!

Ok so 2 minutes in and I want to tell you what I was taught as a little girl growing up in Mentasta (between Tok and Glenallen). They taught us to stomp out a large circle and then to stomp inside of that circle to mix all the snow together, after that you use a shovel to mound the snow up in a big hill, and THEN you dig a hole inside. They taught us that by mixing all the layers of snow it would make it stronger

Don't know if you have looked at the "Outdoor Boys", but they set the standard of what can be done in deep Alaska snow. Since they passed 6 million subscribers, (now 12M) they are traveling and doing more variety, but over their 10 years, have some interesting videos on bushcraft, fishing, and hunting.

John Muir said that there was no illness that sleeping on a glacier wouldn’t cure. Hope you feeling better soon. One year in WA we had a blizzard so my brother and I built a snow lodge. It was so fun to hang out in and was surprisingly warm inside away from the wind. All the neighbor kids came over to hang out in. Brought back great memories seeing you build this. Thanks for posting

A fine adventure! I learned about colds effect on batteries at 18 years old in Alaska. I'd gotten a cassette player for my birthday. We took it out on the lake ice to give us music to skate to. John Denver sounded pretty funny, getting slower and slower as the batteries died! I wonder if it would help if you stuffed your power brick thingy in an old padded mailer and stuck one of those chemical hand warmer pouches in with it.

A snow cave! Once I saw what you were doing, it made sense. I would have gnawed that steak off the fork, too. LOL Crazy as it may sound, we are having snow in north FL! Of course here a snow flurry will shut down a county. No equip to salt or sand the roads & it’s rough on the feet to walk through snow in one’s flip flops! 😂 I’m loving it. It’s so rare. I haven’t seen snow “in person” for close to 30 years. Feel better & return to health soon. 🙏

Good vid. You need a pocket knife one of the all time essentials for being out almost anywhere. You can at least feed yourself. Ranks right up there with fire. I used to do snow tunnels then it quit snowing. Can't rake enough up to cover a dog. All good from east Kentucky USA. Mom and Dad will like this.

That turned out to be a cosey looking snow bunny burrow, great entertaining video Mick One of us has been using them foil sided sleeping pads wrong for a long time (in my case) lol, my understanding was the silver foil side faces up to reflect your body heat back towards you .... and the foam side down to insulate you from the cold below. I'd be interested in seeing others ideas on this haha ..... i don't mind turning mine over if i'm wrong Keep these awesome videos coming, and the cabin build. Watching with interest from New Zealand That massive lump of dead cow you chewed on, looked so tasty, good hot meal and into the sleeping bag in a snow cave, just brilliant

When building a snow cave you want to have a low area for cold air accumulation and sleep above that with a shelf or nook to put your sleeping bag in. Makes a huge difference. Snowcaved on Mount Hood to get an early start on skiing the next morning when I was younger.

Try using a Spetsnaz shovel for building your next snow cave. Cold Steel makes a pretty good replica. The shovel gives you a hacking tool as well as a shovel. It will save your hands and is a heck of a lot faster. Cheers!
