nope, he did it right. He doesn't "grab" her at all. She leaps up, he holds her in place. He is tall, so it was hard for her to jump that high. They did the best they could with the height difference. Bravo!

No, for the lift you will grab your partners waist and then hold him/her in place above your head.

TheOfficialRoxic Have you ever been taught to do dance lifts properly? It's counter-intuitive; if you try to grab and lift an adult over your head three things happen: you injure your back, and they get their waist/ribs injured/badly pinched, and you end up dropping her because you are both in pain. She needs to leap up herself; once she's over your head, then you need to have the arm strength to hold her there. That's the only safe way to do it.

I sure think it looked weird the way he grabbed her legs, and it wasn't exactly how they did it in the movie either. But maybe they had their reasons for doing it this way? Maybe the bride was afraid of falling from such a high lift than how it was done in the movie? And well, in the movie the girl is supposed to fall a bit too during the jump. ;-)

TheBambinoitaliano He is not a professional, not even an amateur but he probably loves dancing and has been practicing for let's say 3-4years at least. My cousin is an amateur(you should check the differences between and amateur and a professional in dancing because even if you dance at the WDFS World Championship and you are under 21 you are still considered amateur) and he is an order of magnitude better even with heavy restrain. I've also been practicing ballroom dance for years and competed at hobby level at 16+ years. It's also obvious the girls hold him back, she probably learned to dance from him.

Many years ago my baby boy only 18 month at the time ran to the dance floor and stole the groom (his uncle) the bride kept pulling in her dress until she danced with him. My son died at the age of 16 and that’s one of the best memories

1st: The Bride and Groom were wearing the appropriate Costumes for the "part" and this was a Performance Entertainment for their Wedding guests. They both have a lot of dance experience; maybe instructors, and perform as well. 2nd: Patrick Swayze was NOT a Dance Instructor, he played a "Dance Instructor" in the movie, Patrick and Jennifer both took a lot of dance lessons and worked very hard. --Look at the movie, Jennifer was taught to keep her body stiff and ridged, like a cheerleader, so she could be "handled" by Patrick. 3rd: Patrick had a lot of upper body strength that he worked on for the movie, and Jennifer weighed very little, they were both chosen very intentionally for their body types. -The Bride is much heavier than Jennifer, and the Groom does not have the strength that Patrick had. --The lift they did in this Wedding video was performed correctly and well, according to their physical requirements, and had the intended Affect. 4th: Dirty Dancing was a Movie; movies are Edited. --This Wedding Dance was Performed from beginning to end with NO "re-takes". 5th: People in Eastern Europe Think very differently than Americans, so you cannot judge them by American Thinking and Behavior.
