Maybe micro four thirds still has a place in our heart? We have a little battle today, we're testing the new Yongnuo 42.5mm f1.7 II autofocus lens on the Olympus EM1 III vs the Panasonic G9 with it's Panasonic 42.5mm f1.7. Can this 3rd party lens keep up? Is it as sharp as the Panasonic? Can it autofocus well?

Never give up on MFT! I often wonder at what point did the generosity of people like Marcus Pix potentially take Casey too far down the path of Full Frame smugness ? How ironic would it be if the generosity of others could be the cause of Casey to lose his way! Say it will never happen...

The why spell it 'Yongnuo' ?
@PackingLess
@PackingLess 3 жыл бұрын
@@jeffslade1892 Chinese is a language that doesnt use the latin alphabet and instead uses characters. There have been a few romanization (writing a languages phonetic sound into latin letters) attempts. The current system is called Pin Yin and was develop by the Chinese government itself so its the current standard. Its spellings often require learning of the phonetics and pronunciation to get the correct sound though. While the original system was called Wade-Giles, and his system used a more english friendly pronunciation without learning the phonetics. Neither system is really perfect though due to the complex nature of Mandarin Chinese. But in that old system it would have been written "Yong No". TL;DR copy and paste 永诺 into google translate and hit the speaker button to hear a native speaker pronounce it and tell me how you would romanise it.
@jeffslade1892

@@PackingLess - am am fascinated by the many variations in british and english dialects. We hear another dialect attuned to our own dialect. An example is in the lyrics to Dire Strait's 'Money For Nothing' the words are usually printed as "Hawaiian noises" but both singers are Northumbrian and the words are actually, "Ha'way ya noises".

With Panasonic white balance, I used a technique on the G80/85 when setting a custom white balance. Instead of setting the white balance against a grey card, get your lighting in your studio sorted out and then use the white balance tool against your face and then let the camera work it out - in the setting custom white balance tool, I found this to be the best way to set white balance against skin tones for the G80/85. Did not need to do any correcting post either when using this technique, hopes this helps.

Quick question: Have you used the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm F4.0-5.6 Lens? I'm looking for a lens that can pretty much just live on my G9. Currently I'm pretty happy with my Panasonic 14 mil but sometimes it just isn't wide enough. I despise fisheye lenses, I really hate that look and I'm not into re-distorting an image to make it appear straight. So fisheye lenses are not an option for me. I know the F4.0-5.6 rating on the Olympus lens won't make it the brightest kid on the block, but it should be bright enough for my little shit show. I record things and stuff, and sometimes I find that I just need a wider view. Soo good choice? Maybe not so good? Anything better for the same or similar monies with auto focus? Cheers 🍻.

You can easily change colour on a Panasonic by selecting another Photostyle, and then you can go in and alter those colours further. If you are using the Standard Photostyle then you probably have the most authentic true to life colour rendition of any camera, which is useful for scientific/technical shots, but not particularly vibrant; if you have dull grey skin, it will show that. It is not so easy to alter the colours on an Olympus, there are less styles available and you can really only alter the saturation.

Hi, I heard that you help people with camera questions. So I have decided to upgrade from my canon 200d but I am confused about which camera to buy my use case is shooting low-budget short films for youtube, some paid work and some street photography so I need a hybrid camera with good autofocus and ibis because I do all these things alone and I don't have a gimbal or stabilizer. I came across a few cameras 1. Fuji xt4 I heard a lot of good review about its colors but main features such as autofocus and ibis is not that good 2. Panasonic s5 had a great ibis but autofocus was terrible 3. Sony a7c was a good option but the ibis was terrible and it shot 8 bit and sony a7siii is way above my budget. I have also heard rumors about a7iv but I don't know when it's going to be released. And I don't like canon or Nikon So can you please suggest to me any camera (if full frame it would be better)under 2000? Thank you and I love watching your videos!!!
