Always found that were the perch. Used to be the big chub. Move in and push them out. Later on in the year. And as you have just seen. It works.

hopefully its not too weedy this year and ill give it a go, the blanket weed grows to the surface and gets covered in duckweed in summer :(

Cracking Chub ! Iv only ever had them on small cranks. Do you have any trouble with that Sienna reel of yours sticking in damp/rainy conditions? The two I have do and its a pain when jigging. (on the pause , when you turn the handle to start the jig again they stick!),even after a re-grease.They are fine on constant retrieves. Anyway, as im from a match/course background the way I attach mono to braid originally came from Bob Nudd if memory serves. Its just a small overhand loop in your braid, then use your favourite knot (ie tucked blood etc) to attach your flouro to the braid loop. Much easier than knots like the Allbright IMO. Hopefully quicker than 25 mins lol!

2 nice chub, I would say if there is pike about get a trace on them minnows I have lost plenty of 2cm shads to pike :s

Dont underestimate pike, i landed 14lb 15oz one on the second last day of the river season, on a Fox micro fry with a 1g jig head size 8 hook
