I am a retired physician and I really only discovered the microbiome about five years ago. It felt like a paradigm change. That intuition that guided me to look at a microbiome also guides me to look at the gut microvirome. I feel that despite the added complexity of a whole new clade of actors, the full spectrum of what is happening in the gut is an exquisite dance between rich diversity of bacterial and viral species. I feel this is the majority of the future of medicine down the road.

It's so exciting but unfortunately such is the nature of the microbiome (given its uniqueness to each individual) that renders RCTs less and less relevant. And it seems unlikely that RCTs will be removed as the last hurdle to the promotion of an idea, let alone product.

Love her Regenerative farming suggestions. I grew up on a farm. Mother was a nurse who loved prevention nutrition. Not popular in her day. She loved gardening. We grew strawberries that tasted so good. I'm really into wild weeds mostly but raise greens too in a very healthy raised bed. So difficult to find compost to buy that is clean. Too much Grazon and herbicides/pesticides. Gabe Brown and Dr. Zach Bush are really helping get the word out about RA. And now hearing her speak about it is fantastic. Love my kimchee. We grew up on sour cream butter from our cows, and filia/rummekalle. Norwegian/Finnish sour milk. If I had a nickel for every time my Mother said "you are your own doctor, and your food is your medicine", I'd be a millionaire. Being aware of everything we introduce into our bodies, with moderation, of course, is key. Thank you, Dr. Been. You are a life saver. Bless you forever!!

And David the Good. Survival Gardening. I didn't know about the pesticides that stayed for years. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Of course she takes it further. My sister almost died from C-Diff. I kept telling her to have the doctors check for it. Later, the hospital finally admitted that they had an outbreak. 🤦‍♀️ Regenerative farming is the best. Back in the day we learned it in elementary school. We had previously talked about fecal transplants. (I was reading lots of research papers at the time. Lots of time for reading after I had to retire).

The health of the average American is atrocious -- and yet we don't look to the fact that 60+ % of the SAD (standard American diet) is ultra processed food. Antibiotics are used as prophylaxis on livestock, and even organic apples are sprayed with antibiotics (to prevent fireblight). It is no wonder our guts and microbiome are toxic.

Microbiome is 70% immune system is what i heard long long time back, today i get to start understand this overlooked science. There is no one color for all or one size fits all in field of microbiome. Greatest learning from today's talk is probiotic products on market are mostly ineffective. We culture curd at home and therefore know that it is a alive strain.

Years ago a dr Doris Rapp wrote a book Is This Your Child- you can apply this to adults. She talks about understanding, testing yourself if you can’t find a dr, intolerances and allergies that are occurring that no one can understand or even deny the existence of this type of illness Elaine Gottshall wrote a book Breaking the Vicious Cycle worked with a dr because her daughter had gastro issues and created the SCD diet that would help relieve symptoms and illnesses in the gut Sugar is the biggest enemy of the gut This gets worse the more restaurant food, the more packaged food, and the more that is done to food by big Ag Just something to think about I hope Dr Hazan is successful in showing that many illnesses are affected by the microbiome

Dr. Sabin should know that there are thousands of us with chronic conditions like fibromyalgia that would pay the thousands of dollars to get these samples done! She doesn’t need to come up with the money! All she needs is people with money to step forward and that will happen, especially when you can cure hundreds of diseases! This is more than exciting. This is a global game changer!

Look at this concerning Bifidobacterium and inulin! Overall, nine original articles reported the effects of inulin on microbiome composition in adult humans, most of them being randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials (n = 7). Studies varied significantly in design (3 studies associated inulin and oligofructose), supplementation protocols (from 5 to 20 gr per day of inulin consumed) and in microbiome assessment methods (16S sequencing, n = 7). The most consistent change was an increase in Bifidobacterium. Other concordant results included an increase in relative abundance of Anaerostipes, Faecalibacterium, and Lactobacillus, and a decrease in relative abundance of Bacteroides after inulin supplementation.

Fascinating discussion but seems their big challenge remains how to separate what is being observed as symptoms or indicators versus being observed as causal to this or that illness. Lots of potential, and keen to follow developments. Thx for sharing.

Wow! Fabulous info! Of course, way too much to be ‘digested’ in one session. I will buy the book - & watch this video a few times. Thank you Drbeen for this great video.

Love her attitude! Her message is something I've always been a big proponent of. Gut health is fascinating and we are only at the cusp of understanding it as well as we should to make meaningful advances in healthcare. It also dawned on me why a certain drug starting with "I" and ending with "ectin" only worked to alleviate covid for some. If it is has an anti-parasitic effect, surely that changes the microbiome balance, maybe even increasing bifidobacterium in some hosts? And likewise, the vax may have significant or minimal impact on a person's health depending on the individual's exisiting microbiome right? That's why I hate the current one-size-fits-all strategy I'm seeing this pandemic. It's actually harmful in the long run.

Well said! Pharmaceutical Companies suspect, these days, for actual intended purpose meant for their one size fits all, by forced mandates, against world recipients. 🙄 This message addresses the why's of these issues head on! Thank you!
