Everyone who owns an e36 would know that replacing the microfilter (aka cabin filter) is a literal pain in the neck (and back!) I knew it was time (way overdue) and when I did this job nearly 10 years ago I did not find the need to remove the glove compartment. Several videos/instructions (even the one that come with the new microfilter) describe the need to remove the glove compartment. It is a lot easier to just remove the bottom panel.
Sorry I was struggling to find my words while I was squeezed in a tight corner holding the phone without having enough room to back it up enough for videography. When I was holding it far enough back for the recording it was difficult to see what I was filming while trying maneuver at the same time.
