pretty good for the price. i bought for abt $130 almost a year ago. the OP was correct abt the sound acoustic. the speakers sounds better at higher volume in larger room. so i would not recommend for desktop use. BUT the bass gets quite annoying at times, especially when trying to listen to movies at low volume, bass overshadows speech voice.

Hi. After having watched your video and some research, I finally swapped my Logitech Z313 for the MicroLab Solo 7C (new model). I got them for USD 136 in my country (Mauritius). These are the best pair of stereo speakers I've had. The sound is crystal clear and you can adjust the treble and bass with the side buttons. Recommended if you are looking for a good pair of speakers for music!

I'm happy with Tom making long videos, as he said it's his style. If I want a short review because I just want a brief description or I'm low on time then I'll head elsewhere. Tom is fantastic because he goes into great depth reviewing the product rather than what most people do which is just unbox it...

I understand what you are saying, but it is precisely that which gives Tom and his videos the appeal to most of his subscribers. Most of us enjoy getting a biscuit and brew ready and settle in for his chatty style vids. Every reviewer has his place, there are plenty that cater for the style you prefer (ie. Linus). Tom has carved out a niche by being himself - long may that continue.

thanks, thanks to your message I'm seriously interested in taking 7c. however, I am interested in the spacious sound, especially for sharing and detail. I don't want low or exaggerated volumes. I wanted more than anything to hear a full, clear sun and that the instruments are not all messed up together. In theory, if this 3-way system is done well, it could do more than 6c for me. Or, 6c is already a good option for a spacious and detailed sound?

Mind you, 110RMS, not 110 direct. I do agree however the bass response is crap. Tom isn't really a sound expert, but he does give a fair take that would be useful to most "general" users. If you know what you're talking about - you don't really need this video I'd have thought :)

Its not constructive at all. This is my style Im not forcing him to watch them. Plenty more people are happy with the longer videos. Its just how I do them. Its my natural style to yabber on. Nice work Tom - I use a pair of Acoustic Solutions Bookshelf speakers (had to retire my old Missions due to age) and a Rotel Amp on my PC rather than the usual "PC" speakers. It's nice to see that a company is making a more compact solution, as my rig sounds like the dogs danglies, but having a separate amp can be a massive pain. I am super stoked that us old-school dudes now have a viable solution. 7.1 and 5.1 have their place, but I'd rather rock these puppies!

its very correct that for this type of speakers its important to keep them at least 1m from you for optimal sounds, but do not put them in a corner. It will really resonate the bass and will make a terrible loud sound on specific notes.

I was listening to this review through my SP2500s. I love 'em. And I agree about the surround sound thing. I assumed that 5.1 speakers were always going to be better than 2.1 for FPS gaming, so I was using a set of Logitech X-540s (5.1). However, since getting my SP2500s I can hear so much more accurately from which direction an enemy is coming, simply through the quality of the sound and stereo imaging. I also play the audio from my Blu-ray movies through my 27 year old Mission 70 speakers.

This is the 1st time I've left a comment. Sadly it's because I think you've gone mad. I have the Asus Crosshair 5 Formula with a 5.1 dolby setup. Movies & games are totally mind blowing. the word you were looking for tom was "sound stage"..those type of speakers present a larger sound stage than something like the sp2500's.... for future use if you plan on doing more speaker reviewing id suggest doing a lil research on Imaging and the different types of sounds these speakers produce.im sure if you went to your local audiophile store someone would be more than happy to help explain things....good speakers should let you close your eyes and visualize where the dif. sounds com frm

At minute 8.08 , did you say that the speakers "shoot" especially the mids, or did I misunderstand and you said the "bass"? However, a passionate review, which contributed to wanting to buy them for me as a "definitive" system for sharing music with family and friends ... An important aspect for me is precisely the big sound stage ... I wanted the impression of being in the midst of other people with "huge headphones" ...

I ordered mine yesterday and they'll be arriving tomorrow (yay!) Anyway, I have an onboard sound chip (Realtek ALC887) and I'm wondering if I should buy a dedicated sound card and if so, is the Xonar DS a good enough match for these speakers? Will I notice the difference?
@nosferadu
@nosferadu 9 жыл бұрын
Update. My speakers arrived today and I'm just trying them out. They sound pretty great but I had to turn the volume all the way up to 20 to hear anything. Turned them up to max and though there's no distortion, the top volume seems kinda low for a pair of speakers this size. So I'm thinking it may be my onboard sound chip. Guess I need to buy that Xonar DS.

@@Peacemaker000000 They sound great with the Xonar, but it's still true that the max volume isn't too loud. I keep them at 45 and the max is 70. Still, this is still plenty loud enough for a party at your house. Overall I'm very happy with the speakers.

Receiver + passive has always been my approach for HTPC use. I find powered speakers like these lacking when it comes to sensitivity and frequency response, never mind the crappy amplifiers used that die early. 55W RMS is alright for a 6" driver. I have 8" drivers on my old Sony 3-way boxes pumping 70W each and they can be heard a block down the street.

The first week I owned it.. when ever I turn them on and set it to PC.. it would work every time. then two weeks later it seemed to take a few minutes for the remote to respond. a month later it doesn't respond at all... but if I keep pressing any button on the remote.. it becomes active after a half hour???? and it does it every single time! changing battery solves nothing! IS this an amp or remote issue?

Great speakers. And I did get "more, not louder"... But what's happened to speakers now a days? 6.5" subs (or 8"-10" even) being "massive"? I remember in the 80's-90's, it wasn't a good set unless they had 12"-15" subs in them. I realize the quality and frequency response of these smaller ones are up to par, but they will never be able to "push" the frequencies or air the larger subs did :(

Unfortunately, spikes under the speakers will not reduce vibration Tom. They may stop the speakers wobbling if they stand on a carpet, but your deaf neighbour's lamp will still shake. That's the law of physics. Try it yourself - throw your phone on the bed from the same height on its back and on its edge. Tbh the second will produce even more vibration.
