You should meassure 5cm from the meassured object.

@@Exploramix unfortunatelly I have the same experience. We have it as well and it's not good even for a quick check if someone has a higher body temperature or not. More accurate is to just use my hand and instinct and if I feel the temperature is high, I will use normal thermometer so I can be sure. With this s..t I can't be sure at all.
