Start learning cybersecurity with CBT Nuggets. courses.cbt.gg/security
In this video, CBT Nuggets trainer Jeremy Cioara covers Border Gateway Protocol. Find out what BGP is, what it's used for, how it works, and why autonomous systems make the routing decisions they do with this MicroNugget tutorial.
BGP is the routing protocol of the Internet. It finds all the routes that the Internet has, and carries them around the world.
BGP is oriented and aimed primarily at service providers and enterprise customers, not individual households or small users.
The small commercial routers you’d find in a home don’t hold a candle to the routers that service providers have. At that level, BGP allows service providers to peek into their neighbors’ routing tables and learn where to send traffic its users have sent to it.
BGP doesn’t have the time to deal with individual routers, it looks at autonomous systems - many of which might contain hundreds of routers.
BGP runs through a list to decide how to route: it checks the weight of routes, local preference values, local routes, shortest autonomous system path, and more.
BGP is the slowest routing protocol around. A registered domain name can take days to populate, and news that a server has gone down can take a long time to spread to every corner of the Internet.
0:05: Overview
0:25: How internet service providers use BGP
1:25: BGP manages trust and untrust
2:40: BGP routes through autonomous systems, not routers
3:45: BGP's path determination survey
4:45: The factors that get considered in BGP routing
5:05: BGP is the slowest routing protocol in the world

Hi Jeremy. I started my Cisco Journey in 2008. Thanks to your training (materials with CBT Nuggets), I am a CCIE (with a number) and I work in multivendor (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, etc) environment. You played an essential part in the beginning of my journey in helping me understand foundations and help me become a good Network Engineer. More I learn, more I realize how less I know. I hope to meet you some day. Food and Drinks on me :) Thank you for your awesome work.

So I think it's even older than the 90's, unless he was trying to sound cool and made it cringe to us younguns.

@adrianTNT
@adrianTNT 5 жыл бұрын
@@fabianblog6809 , it is called an UDRP claim, basically big corporations make a claim that we used a copyrighted word of theirs, for example if you own "asite.com" Adobe can take it away from you because among other many words they also have copyright over the letter "A". But it is "OK" because you go trough a mediation procedure, where a board of 1-3 mediators will decide for you. The ICANN approved mediators are all 100% corporate lawyers, for a living they advise the same corporations on how to protect their brands. So yes, you can guess what your chances are. Oh, and you get to pay $1450 - $3000 if you want 3 members to decide instead of just one (default).
