Definitely buying the bass drum mount and and the cymbal mount. Great ideas! Miking drums with a gooseneck is a terrible idea. You're asking for a headache. I know this from the many times I had use a gooseneck because there was no alternative at the moment.

Yup, definitely will be getting some of those. I never liked the mic mounts I currently have. They attach to the rim.

Thanks for the video! Been waiting for this for a while. I have a few of the rubber shock mounts they work great! I used them inside my toms to mount my internal mics on and they work great!

being half drummer half soundman, I wonder if boom stands mounted onto a rack will not start to vibrate (excessively) and mess with the mics? I guess it would be best to mount the overhead mics into the rack legs adding some dampening as well in order to eliminate as much vibrations as possible? on the other hand using large diagraphm condenser mics with shock mount shall eliminate such issue...

I know it's been 5 years and you've probably learned by now, but for live applications the difference won't matter and it's not enough to necessitate bringing individual stands cluttering the stage. For studios, you should always try to get the mic on its own stand, but some people have gotten away with rim clips on some very famous recordings

For a boomy sound, get the mount. For a thud sound, put your kick mic inches away from where the beater strikes inside the drum.

I don´t do boomy sound on my kicks... and still put the mic about that place where the the holder would be (less EQ needed) and not infront where the beater hits (needs more EQ). In me experience.

Maybe someone could design an Internal Drum Miking and Triggering Mounting System that doesn't need to be screwed in. Use telescopic arms, flexible gooseneck, ball swivel mount or umbrella cage to push against the inside of the drumshell with quick release or alternatively just use velcro, lol
