It's really hard for me to tell between the two but both sound good on you. The SM7B does sound better with the regular windscreen, I find the larger one isn't as pleasant (but it is better with plosives). But it's great to see these videos because there are so few that showcase the microphones you're showcasting that aren't all baritone sounding guys etc. It's great to see you're doing this, we need all voices! :D

Thanks for the lovely comment. Yeah I was struggling to find diverse voices for microphone recommendations. It feels like a good fit for us here! We work with a lot of female podcasters, so it's been really great being able to show them how a female voice can sound with different mics too.

The pop filter is touching the RE 20, which renders the pop filter almost useless. The further away a pop filter is from the microphone, the more effective it is.

SM7b if raw signal or very noisy room. RE20 if I can EQ etc. For my voice anyway (high bass/low baritone, the RE20 is more articulate. I have both). Also, I saw the Rolling Stones the other day and clearly observed that the horns, tambourines and harmonica were mic’d with RE20s (ugly greenish ones) the drums had a few as well.

Absolutely on point description of the use cases Mike. Love that. RE20's are definitely good for horns. Though I would have assumed the tambourines and harmonica would have been too harsh for that mic as it's already got a lot of those higher frequencies straight out of the box. That's interesting! I'll have to track down that video and give it a listen for myself. Thanks!
