Can a General Entry transaction reflect to Accounts Payable Ledger to a particular vendor in GP?

(From an Accountant) No, for most ERP systems, a general ledger journal entry (GL JE) will only change the values in the general ledger. If you have a sub ledger account (such as AR or AP or Inventory) where the sub ledger is compilation of many transactions documents (AR = Invoices Receivable, AP = Invoices Payable, Inventory = Items) a GL JE will not update any of those documents. This will also cause a GL to SL (Sub Ledger) imbalance. A good rule of thumb for all sub ledger accounts, is to NOT post GL JE to these accounts, instead use the appropriate transaction document to update both the SL, GL, and subsequent system reports. (AR Aging Report, AP Aging Report, Inventory Valuation Report)

I have been told that I need to learn a ERP system to get a job. My experience over 30 years is worth nothing. Ok I will try this. But I am so tired of the BS of the job hunt of being laid of 16 months ago. Without KEY words or ERP showing up on your resume you are tossed to the side. Sorry to get off topic.

I feel you. The employers out there toss around words like it's a big deal. Yet at the bottom of it all, they're basically all the same, once you have the accounting concept down, it's just a matter of learning this way or that way - which does not take all that time, unless you're really hopeless.
