Hope you are not using on Lakehouse, you are selecting a warehouse where you have write access.

Thanks for sharing. CTE works as well but Recursive CTE doesn't work at all either in the notebook or outside the notebook. Looking forward from MS Fabric team to support this feature at the earliest.
