Anyone remember when you had to not only down load specific aircraft you wanted, but also the cockpit and the sound? So if you wanted an airplane that wasn't in the game you'd end up downloaded (and probably having to pay for) 3 separate files in order to get one semi-realistic plan inside MSFS. Then there was the scenery if you wanted various parts of the country (or world). So happy this is back and it looks like they took the time to get it right!

I bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on day of release... SUPER EXCITED!!! After a half hour of flying it froze my whole machine every time I played; my PC became unresponsive and had to be powered off manually (which can be harmful if you have processes running in the background). I'm running an i7 rig with an RTX 2070, 16GB of RAM and 50GB broadband internet, I should have been able to run this no probs. The Microsoft help desk had its link to live assistants shut down and the official forum was also taken offline so there was no way to get help fixing the problem. To Microsoft's credit they did refund me quickly and without hassle but this is the single worst experience I've had with a game at launch, it just didn't work... VERY dissapointed. I'm sticking with Xplane 11 for now :(

I’m sure it will have its own special version with lower quality textures and effects, probably fixed res at 1080p or maybe 1440p and upscale to 4K. I seriously doubt it will run natively at 4K. Even if somehow it does run at 4K i guarantee the textures and effects will be dumbed down using frame scaling.

OPEN YOUR WALLETS if you really want simulations to run correctly with decent frame rates. If you run a single screen you might get by with an Nvidia GTX 970 (Cheap $100), but if you want 3 screens with 4k you're going to need an Nvidia RTX 2080 Super ($729) and if you want the ray-tracing Nvidia 2080ti ($1,200+). After testing we will find out how many cores of the processor are used by the game and what the load will be on the video card. Online requirements for areas not loaded from original disc is another large question mark. I have used MSX with 3 screens (non-4k) on a GTX 1660 with Mega Scenery. Currently using X-plane with Intel i9 9900k, SSD 2T & 4T, 64 Ghz Ram with Nvidia 2080 Super, 3 screens, Honeycomb yoke and Satiek pedals. My only major concern before testing....Marketplace Mods - As I understand, if a developer creates a MOD they can only partner with MS. MOST developers create for multiple platforms so that is a restriction I do not like. HAPPY FLYING

It doesn’t help that on the test build your screen name is plastered all over the screen, and then again 3 times in the background in transparent purple letters w green outline. So now I am facing spending $2-3k on a high end PC and peripherals to use FS2020. Sure, these You Tube vids are fabulous, and I am sorely tempted. But what will be the reality? *Everything you see in this video* is pre rendered, hand crafted, which is why it looks so good. Most other geography and cities are generically rendered and don't look like the real thing at all. Still, when compared to previous flight sims, you always get realistic looking environments and buildings, even if they don't look exactly like that in real life. The most aggrieving thing in my opinion is that if you don't have a 100% stable internet connection, a giant window will pop up in mid flight, obscuring everything you need to see, just to inform you that network connection was lost. I don't mind, just let me continue flying through a fantasy but somewhat plausible looking scenery. Instead, with the giant pop-up screen, it seems like the developers are saying, better just give up, this is the end. Just crash and wait till your internet connection picks up again. My point is, if you're flying over pre-rendered scenery, that scenery will stay the same even if connection is lost. Because it's on your hard drive! It's just with 'Bing-generated' scenery in real time that you will see a more mundane setting but remember Bing doesn't get it nearly correct in many cases either. This flight sim was obviously targeted at those wishing to 'learn to fly' using landscape landmarks like rivers, mountain tops, etc., which all will still be there even if you don't have an internet connection. It just will look more basic. If however, you're flying over an A-class location like New York City, London or Paris, the scenery will remain the same because it's pre-rendered.

Alot of these specs they "recommended" make no sense what so ever, RX 570 is gonna be way faster than an ancient GTX770, probably more in line with a 970 or 960 at the very least, they are not even close to the same generation of cards.. My system land between high and ideal... but there's a huge gap there so its very hard to know what to expect.

That's where I sit, above recommended but below ideal. There's YT'er called quill something or other who ran it on a standard GTX 1080 and said it was buttery smooth. I don't remember the other specs he gave but they seemed similar to mine and as I have a GTX 1070ti, which is almost a 1080, I think I'll be alright. I've seen so many video's of actual live game footage unedited with very varied results, One video the guy gets 30 frames in 1080p using a 2070 Super. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a324pGhsmqmEr9U I've also seen another video with an 2080TI at 1440p high settings, he said this game pushed his 2080TI to the limits.

@@maydaygoingdown5602 Hello from the other video! To me, that just shows you can't go off what anyone says. It's not that they are wrong, it's simply down to their personal system specs and settings. I mean, if you're running 4K and ultra settings on everything, I can believe a 2080ti will struggle with everything the game has to do. I've heard that clouds are particularly taxing and these types of games have always pushed the limits of what high end hardware can do. It's all about fiddling with the settings to get what's right for your setup and what you want out of it. :-)
