After watching a ppl and commercial check ride msfs 2024 videos, I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the simplistic approach. It looks like all you do is take off and land at a airport, with no kind of maneuvers. While I'm not expecting a full checkride ( most ppl I don't think would have the patience for it) I thought they might add a steep turn or do a stall or two for the private, and a couple of maneuvers from the commercial ride. I must say that I'm really looking forward to actually being able to do a pre-flight!

@@mammid9622 I don't know, only going on what I've seen in the previews. I realize that this a really stripped down version, so hopefully I'm wrong. I think it would be cool to be able do slow flight, stalls, steep turns, etc. Then have a chance to blow the ride if you would miss a clearing turn.

I must confess that I’m not exactly relishing the ideas of re-studying the FAR/AIM or taking a virtual checkride…
@Belatu425 күн бұрын
Yeah, I agree. You can tell that they are already re-thinking the decision to keep activities only in the career mode based on the public reaction. We need to be able to set up our own activities in Free Flight as well, but the career mode looks well thought out.

@@Belatu42 I love flying and am motivated to dedicate time to staying current incl. flight rules. However, I am pretty sure that the “average” MSFS user does not feel the same level of dedication to realism, esp. if it involves spending real money to acquire peripherals, sub. to Navigraph/ForeFlight, etc. So I believe a “license bypass” mode will be ESSENTIAL for enduring commercial success.
@gstrdms5 күн бұрын
It's so short that you'll spend more time on the ground than in the air. In the alpha, you could reach level 10-15 with PPL and CPL within 30 mins of flying. The barrier to entry is negligible and basically works as a kind of tutorial. I'm hoping for the more in-depth approach of mods like FS Academy and Neofly in the later stages of the game.

No shared cockpit? No career mode with heli possoble?
@Belatu425 күн бұрын
We don’t know. It releases Nov. 19. There definitely is a heli path in career mode. Shared cockpit will probably not be available on launch, but it’s not in any other sim so that’s not a deterrent.
@burn3rphon35 күн бұрын
So we can't start off the career mode with the choice of either a fixed wing or rotary wing of choice? That's disappointing if that's how they intend to release it. I also saw that they aren't shipping it with native shared cockpit functionality. It's still on their "to-do" list dating back to the 2020 version. That's a big seller for me, personally as I prefer to share the experience in the same aircraft as my friends. I'm aware of the 3rd party software that does it but it's unreliable and doesn't cover every new or present 3rdparty aircraft. I'll stick to DCS World for now, with a dedicated rotary community.
@Belatu425 күн бұрын
@@burn3rphon3 we still don’t know how it’s going to ship and none of the sims I have, DCS & XP12 included, have shared cockpit. I don’t prescribe to the negative position before something has even been released

@@Belatu42 I haven't played XP since 11 so I can't speak on that one. DCS, however, has had multi-crew (shared cockpit) for pilot/co-pilot interactivity for a long time now. I have the UH-1H, OH-58, AH-64, and the CH-47. All of them I have flown with a co-pilot (another player), except for the CH-47 because it's the newest early access release and will get multi-crew functionality later. I do agree with the latter end of your statement. For myself and others who are looking for certain features or changes, let's wait and see on release. I'm personally not going to preorder it, I'll read up on it and peep the reviews before I make a decision.

You should have tuned to 121.600 to request Ground for your taxi. They will instruct you to the runway, hold and contact Tower on 120.300. Why is KARB Silent? This is because the game is crap. I too fly at a field with an active Tower, which is silent in this game.

@HDEFMAN1 encouraging yes. But so much was removed from this alpha for this server test it was kind of discouraging lol. There was just enough activated to test traffic,weather, and loads on their end. Which is fine. But it was amazing what they accomplished in this simulator. There are lessons available, but gone for this test. What is nice is being able to tell the wind direction from trees now. I'm sure all the alpha testers were a little disappointed it was only for a weekend as there is just so much to go through in the SIM.
