This was great, thanks, been searching for "what is resource management in project management?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Not a good idea to start by teaching how to manually assign start and finish dates. Most beginners make this mistake. True scheduling is done through assigning logical relations (predecessors/successors).

We think that making absolute references instead of direct relationship is the most intuitive way to start as a beginner. Experience will surely make its part to abandon this option.

Not sure why when I open my Microsoft Project blank project I dont get the two sides. I dont even get like any of the editing task bars besides a gantt chart sheet. I dont have the like editing stuff up top like most excel, word, and powerpoint have.

Manual adding holidays? Come on Microsoft! Where's the automation of importing known statutory holidays?

Not all holidays are standardized. Some states (like Arizona, for example) don't celebrate Mlk day. Furthermore, there are holidays for religions like Hinduism which may not be "standardized" in somewhere like the US, but which could be relevant for employees. Also, it is not uncommon for companies to work through holidays or weekends to finish projects. Also, to preserve generality, this platform is meant to be applicable for all societies and culturey; thus, the need for manual input.

Dear friends, I have a question regarding reading the schedule after print out. Lets say I decided to shorten duration of electrical discipline and would like to see which activity is the last one on Level 5. Due to 500 pages on Level 5 I would like to see identification on higher levels on which page search that activity. Is there any option in MS Project to see Level 1 schedule as an imitation of "Table of contents" with page number reference to lower levels?
