Hello,
Today i've made a video about all the sounds of Windows Longhorn or Windows Vista Beta.
It have snowed in the netherlands today and i'm so happy about it.
I don't know why.
But enjoy the video.
Maybe do u have some ideas of making new videos?
I was thinking about all sounds of Windows Live Messenger.

Fun fact: These are not actually the sounds used by the system. Longhorn was literally just a bridge between XP and Vista, and likely had a combination of both XP and Vista sounds. I don't think it's actually known where the "Longhorn" sounds came from, or why they became associated with Longhorn. I believe it originated as a joke or from a fan project. Maybe I'm looking too deeply into this, but I can clearly see the association between the heavenly music in the sound pack and Longhorn's "death", as it "died" before it was even released.

It's actually known, they came from a professionally made soundpack for XP, with no real association to Microsoft whatsoever. It was sold in around 2004, which explains why people thought it was part of Longhorn.

It's weird on how I actually remembered this one on a computer once my family had, especially the startup and the shut down sounds. Tbh I've been searching for this Windows to know what exactly it is since I've seen and used the typical XP and 7 but both of them aren't the same as the one on this video (and the one on our computer too).

Let me just tell you: these sounds are NOT the sounds we find in Windows Longhorn and Vista Beta builds. They actually use Windows XP sounds. The sounds here actually come from Windows XP Samsung Theme made by Samsung. These are used in various Samsung laptops in 2003, while Longhorn started its development in 2002.

Vista could've been released in 2005 if Microsoft used the Longhorn Sounds and made the original Vista sounds for Windows 7. Doesn't change much since both of the sound packs would be released in the first place

@@user-ri8yx4hf4g they aren't. install any build of longhorn in a VM, literally no builds - post reset or pre reset - use them. they aren't even in the files of the OS. microsoft doesn't make sounds for OSes until it reaches the end of development. longhorn never reached that phase and all builds that are pre reset use XP RTM sounds. plus it's rather pricey to make a whole set of sounds for an OS just to fully discard them.
