Anavi Nahar joins Donovan Brown to show how virtual network peering enables you to connect networks seamlessly in Azure Virtual Network. The virtual networks appear as one for connectivity purposes. The traffic between virtual machines uses the Microsoft backbone infrastructure. Like traffic between virtual machines in the same network, traffic is routed through Microsoft's private network only.

How can one set this up with PaaS on both ends instead of VMs? On one network is Windows 365 Cloud PCs and on the other VNet is Azure SQL Server.

why did not you show a live Demo of the peering instead of showing an already established peering connection ?

In what use case would you not want to peer your regions?

If you loose your data it can be stored in another area. Backup cloud basically. Also, you can access it there physically or virtually.

Can azure function in one region to send a message to a virtual machine in another region? do I need VNET integration along with VNET peering?

Hey there Deepak! VNet Integration does not work with global peering. You can however use our gateway required point to site based VNet integration feature to work across regions for windows dedicated plans and premium functions. You can also use an ASE to host Function apps and make calls into VNets in other regions. You won't be able to receive traffic across global peering on an ASE today though, because networking doesn’t support that on our older load balancers. Take a closer look at this resource for more information: msft.it/6052Tfkfi

or use Google VPCs! VPCs in google can span regions .. so a subnet in East US can communicate with a subnet in West US with no need to peer for cross-region connectivity!
