It are the hundreds of English dialects that I really love with VatSim. Default ATC sounds the same no matter if you fly in the US or Russia. On VatSim moest controllers spean English with a Russian accent. If you to Aberdeen you hear a Scottish accent and in France or Germany it sounds different again. Makes you really believe you are flying through different parts of the world. But it is true that some controllers have some difficulty with English, but they usually most communication is pretty much standarize. I do sometime miss my callsign because it is suddenly pronounced differently..

They didn't announce the game until it was already 90%done, and only announced a release date when it was 99% done. It isn't too hard to meet a realistic objective. Usually it goes wrong when games are announced 1 year in advance and when that announce date is too ambitious.

Veda Playz Well, it all depends on the VACC you are based in. As an example, with VATSIM UK it may take longer to gain your S1 than other VACCs and divisions. This is due to the different training opportunities.

Everyone had their first connection on VATSIM and had their times that didn't know what was going on. However, the more you practice, the better you are. There are plenty of people there who are ready to help you out. Trust me, once you build up your confidence, you will get so bored flying alone :)

The very first time I tried VATSIM I'd forgotten all about the random failures feature of FSPassengers. I was on final at Heathrow, lowered the gear and the starboard side didn't lock. So here's me....first time in VATSIM..... _"tower, this is ZXR-09 declaring an emergency."_ _"I'd like to try giving her a thump on the runway, see if I can't get that gear to lock. If it doesn't I'll have to belly in so will need somewhere else to land as I assume you don't want me blocking a runway here..."_ As it turned out, a thump on the runway worked just fine and I went around for a safe landing but during the whole thing I could hear other aircraft being dealt with and handed off so ATC could deal with _my_ emergency. I felt like that Texan fella in 9DW. Just before my attempt at a thump I had 3 other aircraft wish me luck. You can't buy that kind of atmosphere. And to top it all, after it was all over the fella manning tower at Heathrow PM'd me to say it was his first ever shift after passing his quals.

Given the partnership, I was hoping that an external client would no longer be a requirement and connecting to VATSIM's servers would simply be a case of filing a flight plan and connecting from a list of approved servers (such as IVAO and VATSIM) from within the game. This would streamline the tedious process of filing a flightplan online and inputting the flight details into an external client. Hopefully this is something that will be implemented in the future.

Simply because it's a professional environment, it doesn't mean it should be difficult to use. I wanna give a quick shout-out to Boston Virtual ARTCC, which covers ATC for New England and upstate New York. Great resource for learning how to use VATSIM. It's one of several ATOs (Authorized Training Organizations) that provide step-by-step instruction for getting into it. ATOs can give pilots Pilot Ratings based on completed flights, and there's a list of flights that start with basic VFR touch-and-gos and end with complex IFR flight. Boston Virtual's site does a great job of outlining exactly what to expect on each flight, including what to say to ATC, what to expect them to say to you, altitudes to fly at, navigation, etc. It's so helpful. (They don't teach you the mechanics of flying the plane, like how to make coordinated turns and stuff like that, but there are plenty of other resources that help with that kinda thing.)

What I want to know is, how will the movement of other aircraft look? On Vatsim other aircraft tend to be buggy and robotic in their movements but in MFS2020's multiplayer the movements are smooth af. I'm hoping to be able to do decent formation flying and stuff with my friends with ATC

I just a few months ago was trying to get into vatsim on X-Plane , I’m sad to admit I got really nervous to talk to atc and mess up so I only did take off and went to an uncontrolled airport and haven’t done it sense . I need to learn more there is a online school that teaches vatsim and what not . Super happy this is coming with fs2020. I gotta get back on the horse lol

I would like to offer some advice. I had a lot of trouble learning to talk to ATC while getting my private pilot, so my instructor broke it down for me real easy. Get on the radio, and do the following: -Announce who you are calling -Who you are -Where you Are -What you want With that information, hop into your plane, take off from your uncontrolled airport, and call Center to ask for flight following to another uncontrolled airport. Repeat their instructions back to them, and bingo your a pro. Using the info above: -Chicago Center -N6125 Romeo Victor -6 Miles south of %airport% -Requesting Flight Following to %another airport% Start with that, and then follow directions. They may hand you off to approach. Controller: N6125RV contact approach 123.50. You: Contact approach, 123.50, 6215RV Tune your Radio to 123.50 You: So-n-So Approach, N6125V, Level at 6000 You can do this!!

Very cool. Please consider adding damage models so that, for example, an engine can strike a bird and catch fire on takeoff, and the pilot is forced to declare an emergency and land with one engine on fire, etc. I think having an actual damage model would be very cool for this sim. I want to fly in various system failure emergencies and see if I can safely land, rather than having the screen simply go blank when something fails. Thanks!

It’ll never happen for the simple reason that all the manufacturers of the licensed aircraft appearing in the game do not want people to see their aircraft breaking apart and being destroyed. It’s probably part of the license agreement that Microsoft have to agree to if they want to put these aircraft in the game.

No mention of CSL or a refresh rate improvement.. While I'm a huge fan of VATSIM its time to lift the network into the 21st century. It should no longer be acceptable to simply have hovering aircraft and aircraft that fly across the ground.

It's mentioned on the forums, it has to be 3rd party developer. By doing this, vatsim avoids any potential copyright strikes by pushing it to the responsibility of the 3rd party developer. Not all airlines are happy to reproduce their liveries, as they simply do not understand how does it work.

VATSIM is pretty good at the moment but I think this release will attract more knobheads that ruin it for others. They don't clobber people quick enough.

My understanding is people in other sims will appear in MSFS when using Vatsim as well. I am sure I remember reading that somewhere. So you will be able to see every VatSim user.

I don't believe VATSIM will be available to console, for vatsim use you require vpilot software to connect, console doesn't have that ability.
