I tested Surefire Stiletto Pro II from the Luminary set and it failed the IP67 test miserably! It’s not watertight at all! On the other hand, the Luminary survived every kind of abuse I threw at it. It’s all on my channel. Looking forward to purchasing and testing the new UT

I doubt really see an issue with a (little) bit of blade play in OTF auto's.. for one these kinds of knives were originally developed after the gravity knife. Initially the gravity knife was introduced to paratroopers. Reason being that if there was a problem with the shoot not deploying or getting tangled up, one would have to pull the gravity knife out and whip it down quickly enough so he or she could cut a cord! Then came the automatic out the fronts! A game changer! I personally was Deployed shortly after 9/11 as a Marine Raider. Acting with Marine Force Recon & NAVY SEALS. For those of you who don't know how this works it's almost as a triangle. First off recon goes in and gathers Intel for mission, after that the three forces that I mentioned "sit at the table" than establish a plan of action 4 the operation. The Seals act as a carrier service that would get us in and then out. Im sure u can connect the dots about the rest. Okay a little off topic, but I currently run a private / personal security service. & just like when I was actively involved with the military; get to choose and pick out my loadouts. Back then while in service my go to nice besides the infamous Marine issued Ka-Bar fixed blade that was attached to my plate carrier. & M4 as a bayonet!As a back up I preferred the Gerber 06. (Consider a fixed blade knife as a long gun (m4)and a short blade quick acting knife as a (Glock 19 pistol)...It wasn't called the 06 back then for it was a only allowed to military personnel. I liked it due to the fact I could operate it while wearing my Oakley pilot gloves, without having to cut all of the glove fingers off. (Only my trigger finger was cut) For obvious reasons. That being said back then microtech was not proven as Gerber in terms of time tested reliability. Now on the other hand, microtech knives are in fact part of my gear loadout as well as my employees issued gear load out. They have withstood the test of time & I personally prefer the glykon due to the ability to fire it with any finger while wearing gloves! Almost every one of my knives is now a Microtech! I own over 30+ of them some fixed blades as well! Besides my collection of A.G.A Zero Italian stilettos. I also like& own a bunch Heretic knives,( for those of you that didn't know they are made by Tony son!) I prefer the Elmanac or magna cut steel that he uses over the new M390MK. Microtech apparently bought a bunch of m390 knife steel and I don't think they worked out all the bugs out of it yet for my other older microtech knives have better edge retention than the new steel... All that being said microtech as well as other american-made OTF's regardless of they're slight blade play are definitely the best tactical asset for any kind of combat. But I will say this as a fact. Pulling out a Fixed blade knife is alot quicker than even an otf auto.. especially if it's on a vest or vertical belt configuration! Due to the one motion, & anyone who's been in any kind of combat knows that any time-saving method even if it's just a millisecond could be the difference between life and death! Stay safe fokes! & God Bless America! Oh and if you're reading this Tony, I thank you for your due diligence, time, & devotion to Developing Knifes that are on the cutting edge of design, r&d, and overall quality of your products! No pun intended on the "cutting edge part" 😂! If you could please pm me or let me know when you're custom knives or available it would be great! For every time i try to acquire one it's always too late, Keep up the amazing work! -SS oh yeah forgot to thank you for honoring / respecting us veterans and LEO'S a great discount! only wish it applied to all of your knifes! But one can't have it all, Thank you for setting the standard! For not a lot of companies do this! I think more should follow in this fashion! ❤

Has the M390MK hrc been increased? Soft heat treat is the only thing stopping me from buying them. Which is a shame because I would've purchased so many. 61-63, no 58-59 please.
@danielclemens45094 күн бұрын
Larrin Thomas and many others do not recommend m390 above 61hrc. The steel matrix does not support solid edge stability.
@8BitQuasar4 күн бұрын
@@danielclemens4509Edge geometry also affects edge stability and Microtech edges are obtuse as well as thick behind the edge meaning 61-63 hrc would still have more than adequate edge stability. Just checked my UTX-85 and Ultratech, both S/E with factory edge. These attributes are even more pronounced on my Combat Troodon D/E because of the shorter blade bevel required for having two sharpened edges.

I have carried otfs for years and years and the ultra tech doesn't hold up along with many others IV had. Best overall knife I have carried and used daily is the piranha Excalibur. I put aside microtech for that hands down. Maybe this one will change my mind? I doubt it can hold up to my daily wear and tear though.
