Everyone, who studied the saxophone for a while knows the fingerings of all the chromatic notes on the saxophone. As soon as you try to embark into the world of microtones it is a huge task to find fingerings to play all these new pitches. Fortunately Philipp Gerschlauer, who has been pushing boundaries in the field of microtonality on the saxophone, wrote his book of fingerings, which contains 650 fingerings on the alto saxophone. In this short instructional video Philipp teaches how to read/understand and how to use the microtonal fingering chart. In course of this short lesson he also shows some of the very small pitches you can play on the saxophone.
