Thank you! I love how you go through the whole process from start to finish. I bought one of these as a gift for my son. It had popcorn in a little container already. But it is smaller and you can only do a 1/4 cup. So I'm going to make my self a few for the house and for Christmas gifts. Just for fun.

Hi Ladies!! Great video. Just wanted to share a extra step I did on my popcorn bags. I sewed down the corners to the bottom of the bag. It gives it some stability, and keeps shucks/corn from collecting under the flaps!!!

Can you explain to me how you sewed the corners down? It makes sense but I am very visual and can’t picture it.

I love this. I immediately looked at all my thread stash and saw that they were a common cotton/polyester blend! I will need to go to the store and buy all cotton stuff, then will definitely make this! Microwave popcorn you buy in a bag tastes terrible. This is the way to go, and healthier.

I loved your instructions. Made several bags for gifts. Please advise this challenge: the bag scorched and subsequently burned in the corner where the flaps were sewn down. Thoughts? Also, do you periodically wash the fabric bag? If so, by hand or machine wash?

Made this bag. Great instructions. Easy to follow. I made this for my mom. She transferred it to another bowl to add butter and salt. She used only 1/2 cup of popcorn but there was a lot of unpopped kernels. When she added it back to the bag to finish popping. The corners of the bag burned. I assume that was the butter and salt. Suggestions on why not all the kernels were popped?
@cuttinupquiltstudio39923 жыл бұрын
Hey Leea, thanks for the feedback! There are a couple reasons they might not have popped… First of all, you need to let the popcorn continue to pop until you are hearing 2-3 seconds between pops. (Be careful because if you don’t catch it they will burn and no one likes burnt popcorn besides raccoons) Second, the water content in the kernel is what makes it pop, if your popcorn isn’t stored correctly, is a little old or gets dried out, that can prevent the popping. You can soak the kernels for 15 min, pat them dry and see if that helps. If it burned the bag on the second go around, it was most likely the butter that caused it. I hope this helps, I am a huge connoisseur of popcorn, but that doesn’t make me an expert.

I am sorry to hear that, usually if that happens, the fabric or the thread wasn’t 100% cotton. A poly cotton blend will not work, only 100% cotton.
