As someone whose microwave has this issue, I'm hopeful that this is the solution. But as someone who's created video, I feel like you did a 17 minute tutorial video with like, 4 total cuts and excellent audio. lol. I would have had to chop the shit out of my audio. My problem ended up being the relay on the controller board. I figured out where the relay was on my microwave. Hit the side close to that spot with my knuckles really hard. Fan stopped running. I wish I would have filmed it. Made me very happy.

It turned out it wasn’t my switches. One of the door latches was damaged. Ordered a new door latch and voilà. Fixed.

I had the same issue but upon opening my microwave I noticed a black wire that was connected to the door panel board. But wasn't connect to anything on the other end as well as the bottom switch only had one wire connected to it. Dumb question I know but it that how it is supposed to be

@@JOATD the exact issue you stated on the video. The fan and light were always on if the door was closed, even when the timer was off. I actually figured it out though by following all the wiring. It looks like the light, exhaust fan and turntable motor are all wired together but actually wired somewhat separately from the magnetron. This is likely because the magnetron goes on and off during cooking - it's not "MANETORISING" the entire time. So as a last hail Mary, after changing all the switches and timer with ones I got from an old dead "organ donor" microwave and still getting the same results, I removed the turntable motor after seeing how the light, fan and motor seemed to be wired together. And sure enough the issue was gone and the microwave would switch on if I activated it like normal (just minus the turntable). So I went over to the junk dealer and got a replacement motor (my organ donor had already surrendered it's motor to my brother previously) and it was perfect. So I think there was a short inside the motor which was creating a "backdoor" circuit that was being completed by the door switches. The turntable had actually been acting up, sometimes barely spinning and when I removed it, it had some obviously moisture stains - but I never put it together that it could cause that. Still I would not have got that far without your video so it's much appreciated!

Ok this is exactly what my microwave was doing, I was told to clean the connectors and I took a q-tip to clean and the latch clicked and locked on both the top and bottom and now I can't close the door at all. Do you know how to get it to retrieve back so I can close the door? Please help if you can. Your video and step by step was very helpful. Thank you

Was the fan working when the microwave first started malfunctioning

It could be a couple of things. When you put it back together you didn't plug the fan back into the control board. The relay that the fan connector plugs into could be faulty. Another thing the fan motor could have just burned up from staying on but it was broken.

(I was not cooking, nothing hot on stove) ✋🏼 I’ve let it it run for 45 mins, then I had unplugged it for 45 mins (just bc) still ... fan full blowing The vent buttons intermittently would work, then completely stopped working a couple years, Today!! suddenly!! ...it came on & will not shut off ... the buttons aren’t acknowledging my touch I’d totally appreciate any advice to offer ... To be honest with you eventually you have to buy a new microwave. I had to get one because I went to work and the fan stayed on all day and it burned the fan motor out. So I finally opted to buy a new one. I've had that microwave for 6 years. And it finally just made sense to buy a new one. But you can just change the fan motor out. They sell them on Amazon.

Depending on how old the microwave is I would just change them all, but normally it's the black ones for the door latch
