Building a DIY spot welder from a Microwave Oven Transformer (MOT) - 3rd episode. In this episode I optimize the low voltage secondary from 4 turns to 3 turns, but a thicker wire. This helps to deliver more power into the spot weld. The 4-turn secondary wasn't properly matched to the typical resistance (impedance) of a spot weld (iron sheets). I also remove the magnetic shunts from the MOT, which increases the peak current capability by at least 10%. I build a proper mechanism to align the electrodes and I do some measurements and test spot welds. In the next episode, even more improvements are coming.
