In this video, I got to salvage some wood by sanding down the original blonde color to the raw wood underneath! This smaller Mid Century Modern Dresser could also double as a vanity with the large mirror! It ended up selling to a family who was updating their furniture and this was going in a 3 year old little girl’s room! I love getting to hear the story of what people are going to be using my furniture for! A quick, simple flip, and another happy customer! That student loan debt is dwindling more and more! Thanks for watching (:

Lauren, this flip is SICK! I know you weren't a fan of the gold, but as soon as you put that first gold handle on the bare wood my jaw dropped - I think it looks uh-may-zing!!! One thing I am always impressed wiith is your ability to start into a project - ON CAMERA - see that you have to change your plan, and you effortlessly just take it in a different direction...you don't even miss a beat or look the least bit frustrated! You are a pro! (Can we also talk about the care package...😍😍😍) 💪💪🎉🙌💕

I’m going to be 67 next month. I never liked “blond wood” back then. My parents had all blond wood in their living room. But maybe that was because of the varnish or stain? Because I LOVE this piece. There’s a product called Rub’n Buff that comes in tiny “sample” tubes. There are several gold colors to choose from. It’s a wax but not like the wax you’ve been using. You DO buff it once it’s dry. I like it for a project like this because you can use your finger to apply as little or as much as you want. The hardware could have been applied so that you could also just barely see the black too. This is ONLY a suggestion because this piece is AWESOME! Until I started thinking about painting furniture I’d never heard of Rub’n Buff. I used the “patina” color to change a brass sconce to look as if it was copper left out for years. I fooled my son-in-law. He works on the ferries here and he thought that it actually had real patina. Lol Leslie PS. I forgot it was Thursday! So it was fun to see this project!

I love this look! So sleek and modern! I'm currently working on a set of high-boy and low-boy dressers where I'm going to have to change out some hardware because one knob is missing, and I was planning on making the top row of drawers on each piece raw wood. I've also been playing with the idea of using gold hardware (spray painting what I have to match new knobs for the smaller top row of drawers), but was worried about how it would look. I'm painting the body and other drawers Hampton Olive from the Silk line, and I know gold would look good there, but I was worried about how it would look on the raw wood. I'm feeling better about that option now.

What a great idea the care package is! Not sure about the gold accents either, maybe white would have been an option, especially like white accents with the blonde nautral woods. Your work is awesome! The MCM modern furniture is hot in some places, but not many buyers in are small rural area. 5 days I would be ecstatic if I could sell a piece of upscaled furniture.. That's a pretty quick turn around. I think you did great on the amount you got out of it.. The market for MCM is unpredictable & smaller than some styles..

I'm so curious - did your folks refinish their own furniture as you were growing up? If not, how did you develop a liking and aptitude to do this? I know you are still learning some tips and techniques, but you are so natural and easy tackling these projects! I think you are amazing. Your loan is going to be paid off pretty quickly now; will you continue to flip for another goal?
@FurnitureFlippingTeacher
@FurnitureFlippingTeacher 3 жыл бұрын
This is such a thoughtful comment (: No, my parents never refinished their own furniture or anything like that! My dad has always shown me a self-sufficient attitude (when something needs to be fixed, learn how to fix it yourself). He always had me around the house and yard working with him, whether it be mowing the lawn, staining the deck, fixing the toilet, or painting my bedroom, we always did it together! I was there to learn and loved it! I also love before & afters (: In May, I had the desire to "flip" our kitchen and it's a completely different look! We (mostly I) did the whole entire thing ourselves! Painted, new counters, new floors, EVERYTHING! Then our dining table didn't match the look so I tried my first DIY chalk painting with our kitchen table and ever since then I just loved refinishing furniture! As a teacher, I have always had a creative side and have always enjoyed art and such. I just happened to find this and absolutely fall in love with it! Thanks for noticing my work ethic and love of doing what I do! And don't worry! We have several other goals in mind to work toward once my student loan debt is gone! (: Thanks so much for watching & supporting!

@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher SO cool!! My dad also had me by his side when he was doing repairs around the house or tackling electronic repairs (I loved the solder gun and wire strippers!). I painted walls with my mother, and she loved buying unpainted furniture and using her imagination; but we didn't do anything to the depth that you do. You really inspire me, and I know thousands of people are out there being inspired by you too! I imagine if you have kids someday, they might be holding a tiny paint brush instead of a rattle. :)

Very nice paint color! I think it would have sold at your asking price if the all the drawers had the natural wood instead of just the bottom drawer/s. Or maybe the bottom drawer/s and the top surface? IMO there was just too much space between the bottom drawer/s and the small strip at the top of the mirror. But of course I could be wrong. Along with your progress flipping, your husband is progressing with videoing. 👍🏼

Lauren. Just a thought, but maybe you should invest in a portable rolling cart to put most of your smaller projects on to, so it’s easier to clean/paint.

@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher love how the dresser turned out. Im gonna have to get me a cart like the one u have there!!! Every time I paint furniture i hqve bottomless supplied scattered about...projects can take a few days. I have been working on a toy chest off n on for a few days and my kitchen counters have tons paint...brushes..stencils ..drop cloths ect...i have a habit of doing this and leaving it over the duration until my project is completed. If inhad a cart is can just be so much more organized!! I know my husband would love my hoard of supplies to be neatly contained..lol. 🥰🥰

I like the blond and white wood combo. I don’t really like the gold. I think I liked the black better. Did you do a top coat on the blond wood? I think I missed that.

What or how do you deal with the fuzz? I just did a bedroom set for a client in white and I had so much trouble with fuzz. I’m baffled LOL! 😊
