MID-ENGINED Dodge Viper? Why it should NEVER exist

The Dodge Viper is powered by a V10 covered by a hood that takes up about half of the entire length of the car. So, turning the Dodge Viper into a mid-engined Dodge Viper is simply...a bad idea.
But, that's what a lot of you wanted me to do on the channel and of course I'll do it for you. So here we are, this is what a mid-engined Dodge Viper could look like.

Fun fact, the viper is actually considered a Front mid engine car, the engine sits very far in the back behind the front wheels, coming very close to the dashboard of the car.

Yup, that's why it's such a beast on a track. Because the engine is actually pretty well balanced near the middle. Same with the AMG GTR and all of its siblings.

I really like the way this design came out. The only thing is that the side air intake needs to be smoother to match the rest of the design language. It looks too sharp and boxy as if it belongs on a Lamborghini Gallardo

The viper is actually already pretty much mid engine by design, front mid engine that is. The engine is pushed back almost all the way behind the front axle, added with the massive transmission that essentially extends into the cockpit and you've got yourself a pretty much a mid engine car with a 50/50 weight split too. It's actually why the car is so twitchy and difficult to drive as well.

Good sketch but, Dodge is focused on heavy hellcats and silly jeeps with hell cat engines. They will never invest in a mid engine car especially with the failure of the last viper which was beautiful.

Looks great! Even though Viper actually is mid-engined as it is, since the engine is between the axles, though not in the traditional mid-engine position behind the driver.

This was one of your more challenging sketches by far. You did a great job keeping the soul of the viper alive. I did notice two things i think could improve your sketch a little. The front of the door had a strange line that didn't carry over well. And the front end still carries the bulk of a front engine car (and intake scoop). Still, its a great sketch and a crazy idea for such an iconic car. Great job!

A Viper should always be a front engine, 8+ Liter V10, manual only, RWD supercar. I really miss it today in a world where basically all supercars sold are automatic only. But mostly I want it to return so the 5th gen Viper doesn't start rapidly appreciating in value which keeps relatively in my reach

I really enjoyed this one. Not only seeing this re-design, but knowing that when being mid engine, handling will be significantly better. The front of the viper afterwards reminds me of a early 2010’s Ferrari is a really good and unique way for the viper

I mean the viper is the quintessential front-mid engined sportscar, if they made it mid engined, it would completely change the silhouette of the viper. Technically, I think you could have easily left the breathing hole behind the front wheel in place, it could have worked as part of the aero package. So many mid engined cars have openings behind the front wheel, including cars like the Enzo. It helps with brake cooling and helps keep the air out of the front wheel well. That detail aside, the mid-engined viper doesn't look offensive to the eye at all, it just looks very standard, like every other mid engined car ever. Kind of a shame given how distinct it looks with the long hood and engine up front.

*SUBSCRIBED* I actually prefer this rendition of the Viper over the C8 Vette. This is a very sensual concept. Maybe not fully in line with today's aesthetics having a more curvaceous flow to its shape, but beautiful nonetheless. The only thing I'd request you do more of in your excellent videos is to have before and after comparative side by side shots of the cars you modify. That way it will display all the changes made to the original. In this video it's not necessary but would really appreciate it with videos where there's more subtle alterations. Keep up the good work!

I own several Dodge Vipers, including a 2016 ACR, and I love em. Butya know what, I like the idea of a Mid Engine Viper. So long as it's a little tailhappy , is abit of a handful to drive, and has a manual transmission, I'd queue up to buy one

This is kickass. My personal taste would have made the intake scoop mirrored from the exhaust scoop. Keep the roundness but essentially flip it 180 degrees. That round scoop is part of the identity for me and I think it could be preserved and repurposed as the intake.

There actually was a prototype built in the 1990s...there are some sketchy pictures of it floating around...and at least the Rear engined viper above doesnt look like anything else...unlike the C8...

Great video. And if the viper ever becomes a mid engine im gonna be mad the vipers spirit is the v10 up front and the long sweeping hood. The viper was such a crazy design and dodge whent for it, And the viper started a trend of new cars to compete with it. The viper is and will always be the car that took a leap of faith and landed way further than expected and started and new trend.

Looks pretty good, you should do another but with the ACR areo package, and change the front just a bit. Bring a little bit more edginess to it like most sports cars are going to these days.

People are hating on the e46 compact desingn, the car in itself although is one of the best BMWs i have ever driven. I wish some youtuber with the right skillset could redesign it. Maybe the lower roof line of the e46 coupe and sleaker taillights might do the trick... ...Anyways, very nice videos keep up the good work.

It’s always possible to have a front mid engine car. There’s both front & rear mid engine set ups. The engine just has to sit more behind or in front of one of the axles and you’re in business. Hell maybe the viper is already a front mid engine vehicle I have no idea.

I was thinking a body shape more like the old GT1 cars of the 1990s, but with a 4.2 liter Judd V10 under the hood, and much crazier aero. Hell, even a few 3D printed PEEK parts here and there.

.....the Dodge Vipers aren't in the Normal Vehicle depreciation Curve. they did have a Depreciation but it wasn't much cause every version of the Viper has a fanbase and the value maintained pretty strongly. Mainly cause it's so loved and has been a almost custom made to order vehicle. Right now the Dodge Viper isn't being produced (Jeff Dunham got the last produced Dodge viper last I heard) and hopefully they bring this iconic line back.

Front looks like a Corvette C7, but otherwise I like it a lot! Lost count of how many times I've requested, but could you redesign the 1991-93 Mitsubishi 3000GT? As a VR4 owner I can say a well done 3000GT is a thing of beauty, and I'd love to hear your perspective of it
