The thing about golf is... I used to be an audiophile before learning the game of golf, and the first thing I realised about the golf world is, it is a big lorry of bshit behind much of what is good or not. I once went to a big High End HiFi exhibition where one company sold a small wooden box with dirt in it, it was very nice crafted, expensive looking. It was supposed to improve the sound by having real soil in it, as in true ground. It was dirt in the box from the makers back yard. It was a load of bshit, or snakeoil as labeled historically. ...I find the golf world walking in the same realm as HiFi sound. It is all subjective, there is no stable ground to stand on, everything depends on everything and no one can be sure of anything. It is all about selling more products. Instill doubt in what you have, making you go shopping. Yes, expensive products often are of good quality. That doesn't mean expensive always equals good performance, or that cheap equals bad performance. Be aware and see through the bshit and find products with good performance regardless of the price tag. I have never played with any Kirkland products so I cant pass any judgement on Kirkland. I do play with Cleveland products - putter, hybrids and they perform well and they don't cost an arm and a leg. That doesn't mean other brands have to be better or worse. In the end specific brands doesn't matter, a good golfer can play good golf with any established brand. A fitter makes a difference fine tuning what suits you, that doesn't mean off the shelf cant be played with. If you have read this long I salute you! :)

TM is just salty that Kirkland was able to take what they introduced into the market and made it comparable if not better, but at a fraction of the price (big emphasis on this point). It makes TM look bad for selling their comparable iron at such a high price. I just wish they would make them available in X-Stiff.

I think even high handicappers can benefit from a players iron as the right to left shot isn’t as punishing as a short or long shot that game improvement irons seem to produce. Nothing is worse than hitting a good shot that goes long. So if Costco can get high quality players irons into more folks hands I think that is a positive.

There is no way I can buy irons off the rack. Being 6’ 4” tall, my irons are 1/2” extra length and 3 degrees more upright. I have played these specs for the last 40 years thanks to my Ping fittings.

Even best priced clubs are expensive when you add the shipping and other costs to UAE. Just purchased c723 hybrid and total cost was around £350.

3-1/2 yrs ago had a new fitted set of callaway apex irons. Well into four figures. Good clubs to be fair . But in the last year and a half the shafts on 4 of them have broken in exactly the same place just under the handle. Callaway don’t want to know. I was So fed up I went left field and have Just bought a set of Ram FX77 irons for £299 (£340 with the 52 wedge) for less than it cost to have the four shafts replaced! I can honestly say they are no different from the callaway irons in the four rounds I have played!! If they last anywhere near as long as the apex did then I’ve lost nothing! Will never pay big boy prices again.

For 50 years we've been led to believe that buying the latest and greatest golf club from the large manufacturers will magically transform our game appealing to macho ego and emotional satisfaction. Buy cheaper clubs and invest yourself in lessons and training. For 99% of golf courses you will improve. I have to believe that.

I have seen the Costco irons on eBay for $1000. If i'm paying that much I'm going for the Taylormade. If Costco ever decides to restock their irons, and I doubt it seriously, I'll buy a set. I think golf equipment is far too overpriced in the first place.
