The point isnt really to not crash the wave but to not use abilities to do so. Since syndra outranges aurora she can rely on autoing the wave to hardpush and holding the abilities to threaten aurora. As soon as she qs the wave there's no real threat for aurora anymore and for a few seconds you can walk up freely to chunk the syndra. In this case the threat to aurora is much more important than getting some extra damage on the wave, since the abilities arent strong enough to oneshot the wave yet.

She should just hold all her CDs and use them for trading. Even holding them for threat is better than what she's doing and she can just generate push through autos. More importantly though just don't end up in this position in the first place, you need to be winning level 1 as Syndra vs Aurora

Aurora is quite dependent on her ult so you just want to minimize the cooldown of your main playmaking tool. It's kind of similar to ahri. You really only want to fight with your ult because you are so much stronger then.

Personally really value the ult CD for soloq, also think the damage in AOE is comparable. Weakness is waveclear but Aurora can normally do this fine
