I've read Merchant of Venice in three different classes through the years, and they were always my favorite discussions. So much meat there to chew on. Smithsonian Magazine has a great article available online (April 21, 2016) about the anti-Semitism.

Really enjoyed your "slice of life" mid-month book bash vlog. Loved seeing snippets of your days. So... Sandwich... For me, this book was... Meh... Our kids are grown... I've survived menopause... I talk frankly with our kids when questions are asked... But the author drove me crazy with all of the lists. Honestly, I almost DNF'd the book when she began listing the contents of the medicine cabinet. 🙄 Bottom line... Sandwich was meh for me. Now... Who categorized Merchant of Venice as a comedy? The StoryGraph reviews list moods as funny, lighthearted, etc. Poor Shylock! I agree that he should have been merciful, but he was vilified (as were all Jews) in this play. This was cruel and heinous treatment by Shakespeare! There were lighter moments but the play is not a comedy!
