I forever suffer mid shaft splits. When my hair reaches an inch it starts splitting down the middle. I've cut it about 3 times to try get rid of them. Mind you theres no dye or heat involved. It's so frustrating

@@skylarsky3173 I actually don't have midshaft splits now. I owe it all to fenugreek water. I soak fenugreek seeds in water for a day and spray it on my hair every other day, seal with an oil and they stopped! I guess maybe we weren't putting enough protein in our hair. Please try it or try using protein treatments once a month and tell me how it goes

I never did protein treatments which I guess is probably the issue… Do you think that synthetic hair extensions (like box braids) may be damaging as well?
@janethibeh1896

@@Jade-pu1zc Hi, I've seen a lot of assumptions that your hair rubs against the synthetic hair, so that could definitely be damaging, but taking breaks after them or maybe even using your natural hair for styles would help that

My hair is riddled with mid shaft splits and it's so disconcerting. On most hair with these splits sometimes have at least 5. I can't seem to stop them.

I’ve had mid shaft splits I just cute them out when I see them. I know for a fact it was due to the fact that my moisture/protein balance was completely off. I tend to do a moisturizing Deep Conditioner one week then a strengthening treatment the following week. Ive find the splits have definitely diminished as well as my single strand knots. That’s also due to the fact that I keep my hair in twists throughout the week. Good information Achia!!! You’re the best.

I had stylist once tell me mid-shaft splits was not a thing. Had to stop going which unfortunate she was good but for that pause she gave me that said "you're talking crazy" without actually saying the words. If you're not going to even explore the possibility with me then my dollars go elsewhere cause she was not cheap

Great tips!!! I've experienced mid shaft splits or splits going up my entire hair shaft and I just cut them out because typically its not every single strand so it's not noticeable plus by cutting it out it will allow that strand to catch up with the rest of the hair over time.

I enjoyed this video. I'm struggling with over manipulation because of my scalp. My main focus is to keep my scalp from developing dry patches and flakes. During this wash n go challenge, I have been successful in keeping my scalp free of issues. I use a scalp treatment on wash day (Curls Blueberry Scalp Treatment) and massage my scalp with a light oil (As I Am Growtholl) every other night, trying not to disturb the hair.

Yes I have experienced midshaft splits. I’m pretty certain it’s because I didn’t have my moisture/protein balance on lock. I have improved greatly in those areas. But I did slack on the moisture again recently and saw them trying to rear their heads again. So I’m working to stop any others from developing.

Thank you so much for this video sis.. It's the only one here on KZbin that addresses the issue of midshaft splits. ❤️ My hair is so thick but I'm gonna try and cut those strands out, they are stressing me. Because I'm protein sensitive I didn't think I needed protein but I see I was wrong.

I have shoulder length, straight-wavy hair, wash it once/twice a week, haven't dyed it in like 2 years, I don't brush it often unless its necessary, I don't do many braids or those kinds of hairdos cause if my hair's length, and I have mid shaft splits in almost all of my hair... I don't know what to do, it's starting to be and issue, and I'm starting to get insecure about it 😞

Shasia Lee sane with me as well when my hair dries it goes really frizzy and the mid shafts makes my hair look dry. I used to straightening my hair one a week for like a year but I have touched any heating tools in 10 months and suddenly I got mid shafts. And also my hair is falling out and it doesn’t even grow anymore 😢

Thanks!!!!! I had them in the front of my hair and suffered from breakage. This past winter my hair got really dry and seemed to change porosity in the front. I think pulling my hair back in puffs caused the breakage. I now have cute long bangs, but very alert to changes in my hair. I've only been natural for a little over 1.5 years, so learning my hair as it grows, changes and goes threw the seasons is on going.

Great information as usual. I am not sure if I have mid shaft splitting, since my hair is short. I have incorporated pre-pooing into my weekly routine and I have found that I hardly have any shedding. I have also added a bit more protein to my routine through the use of the Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Deep conditioner. That is a great conditioner, I can definitely see a difference in my hair. Thank you Achia for that recommendation. You are the best!!!!

I'll tell you my experience, if I may? :) I have "just" wavy/curly hair, and I have to pay attention to my hair. My scalp is quite normal to somewhat oily (weekly wash), used to be oily (2/3x a week wash) but my lengths are *very* *very* dry. I have classic length (butt length) hair and so I need to really take care of it by using good masks and moisturizing conditioners. I wash and then I condition or mask twice in a row doing an oil rinse on the ends in between and it is the oil rinse that has taken care of a lot of issues for me. My hair now stays moisturized for the week, especially since I follow it up with the LOC/LCO method.

With my length and texture, I have no choice but to get it wet and restyle it nearly everyday. I do wash and go's exclusively. If I don't completely restyle it, the softer curls come apart on my head when I sleep, so might as well do it over. Do you think my biracial hair will be ok? Because I sure do get it completely wet everyday/every other day if I don't need to leave the house.
