Excellent! You guys clarified something very important about mid-side, “Changes to the mid channel will still affect hard panned elements and changes to the side channel will affect the entire stereo field except for elements which are perfectly centrally panned”.

That’s a perfect summary!

@@MasteringExplained No it's not, as it does nothing to explain the resultant "added 3rd channel" effect that a listener gets, when all of that is deliberately put into a stereo remaster, instead of simply using a machine to see it on a scope. By actively using not only a natural MONO'fied L+R into ONE channel, but to add the differentials (many of them) into the other side channel as a NEW stereophonic remaster, that one then "plays_back" differently as well, one STAGES a final into a top down dual channel MONO speaker tower array, unlike anything you have ever dealt with. Put midly, by stacking two TOWER speaker boxes, one atop the other but with ONE box inverted, you get all upper egister sounds (the vocalists both main and backing) heard about the center of the array, with the TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT bass channel contents, at either the upper or lower stage of he vertical MONO Array speaker, IN ONE LOCATION, meaning there is absolutely NO sweet spot, and NO dead one's either. Just seriouly better 100% full content, insted of some of the original "hidden" behind 180 degree panning. ceating a lost ch effect wih just two at 120 degrees apart, towards the front, meaning only 57.7% of actual full content, thus using a L+R 2ch stereo, you mss out on 42.3% that you will never hear, my way ensures 100% of content is heard. Period.

Hello, thanks for the video! I listened very carefully with headphones, even isolated frequencies, but I didn't hear any difference either at 7 kHz or in tonal balance. Could it be that you recorded for the video is not the sound that you hear in the monitors? Do you hear the difference when you watch it on KZbin?

The audio is correct, I listened again here on KZbin just to be sure. Listen for how the noise gets louder with the boost for example, if you want to tune your ears to that frequency area. ☀️ /Sofia

@@MasteringExplained Okay, now I hear, thx! But the difference in headphones without crossfeed is very small. It only becomes explicit when I enable the Canopener Studio plugin. May I ask you something? The question is not related to the above video. I have only recently begun to study sound, and I just can’t understand: why are music and movies so rarely mastered for listening with headphones? From what I understand, more and more people are listening to content on headphones. It's often said that if you master with speakers it sounds good on headphones, but as far as I can tell, that's not the case! I constantly turn my crossfeed plugin on and off to find a better sound and hear a huge difference.

Yes, I do that too, regarding the cross feed. This is an interesting topic. We can make a video about the compatibility between headphones and speakers. I’m going to discuss that with Thomas 🎧
