I love seeing this video every year! I'm not doing mine until July, just because I want to make sure everything I read in June can be included. Because yes, the beginning of June is not the middle of the year 😄 Ooh, the Tress end pages are really pretty! That's the downside to buying books online, I don't get to see what they look like before the person receives them. I really enjoyed your colab video, and I'm looking forward to seeing more community videos and posts!

I, too, am a person who prefers to do this tag once I’ve hit the official halfway point of the year 😂 Your year is weird and crazy with a mid year move, so you are excused for doing it early 😜

A Lady’s Guide to Marvels & Misadventure is on my list for this year too! 🥰 I wonder if it would actually be a good “Christmas” book to read because of its connection to The Nutcracker 🤔

I almost didn't watch since the year isn't almost half over.. LOL j/k I think my top 3 books of the year are: The Chemist, The Frozen River, and The Berlin Letters.. apparently I should only read books that start w/ The. One bookish goal I have is to look up all of my books on different audiobook platforms and see which I can access that way and create a document w/ where I can get them.. Then I will know what books I can listen to verse which I can read physically.. I am not reading as much w/ my eyes right now.. and instead of being frustrated by that I just want to embrace the fact that I do have a good bit of time for audiobooks! :-P

😂 I wouldn't blame you! That's a great idea to do that with audiobooks! I wish I would have known about audiobooks and ebooks back when I had a baby, I would have read so much more!

Chantel, what was the book that your kids wanted you to read? I do a summer book program with my 7 grandkids that are independent readers, from age 7 to 16. They aren’t all eager readers, so it’s tricky picking books for them. I buy them each a book, then when they’ve finished it (and I’ve finished it and have come up with good discussion topics), I take them out to lunch at the restaurant of their choice and we discuss the book over lunch. None of the kids are into sci-if or fantasy (except for Narnia). I’d love a video of middle grade recommendations! And what have your kids enjoyed? And what would be a good entry point for sci-fi and/or fantasy?

The book is City Spies. Entry point for fantasy for a 13-16 year old I'd say A Wizards Guide to Defensive Baking, for 7-10 I'd recommend Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead, for the 11-12 years I think Keeper of the Lost Cities, though, those are big books, if that's intimidating, maybe Amari and the Night Brothers.

Oh, another one for 11-16 would be The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen.

Ha! I just unhauled Jonathan Strange! I started it and just couldn’t get in to it at all. And it’s sooooo long, I decided I’m not doing it! I also just unhauled a Jamie Jo Wright! I usually love her books, but I didn’t love The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond.

Book that made me cry-last night/this morning😳 I finished In This Moment from the Timeless series, so good. You do need to read A Lady's Guide, it's so fun, rides the line between historical fiction and almost sci fi/fantasy(not sure which, all the gadgets sound so cool). I will confess to not liking the main character in the first third of the book but I loved the other characters so much that I kept reading (💗her mom) I liked the main character more as the book went on and ended up seeing a lot of myself in her #controlissues, so yea😅 Anticipated release-so excited for Nightmare Virus, heard good things so far.

Yes, the only people I've heard that don't like A Lady's Guide didn't realize the steampunk/scifi vibes of the book and that makes me even more interested in it! I'm about 15% into Nightmare Virus right now and am enjoying it!

so funny! I always think the same thing -- we aren't "1/2 way thru the year" til we get to the END of June! Hope settling into your new home is going well. Do you partake in Jane Austen July? I purchased the Queen Victoria book you reviewed, it sounded like a good one.
