Science Shepherd is a video based science curriculum that they can watch and fill in information in their journals. There are also optional activities, but we aren’t doing them this year.

We use science shepherd as well. They’re not like thrilling videos. But informative, short segments with questions. My 7 & 8 year old boys can get themselves on and watch, rewatch as needed to understand and do it all themselves. 👍👍

We have been doing speech with my youngest for 3 years now. It has been so good for her! I understand what you mean about the busy things and being out of the house. I’m looking forward to less of that this semester

We love Berean Builders. My 5th grader pretty much does it on his own and we order the Nature’s Workshop Plus kit which is amazing. You might also be interested in Journey Homeschool Academy science. Sounds like what you are looking for.

We're a military family, too! So jealous your husband is out, haha! Anyway, we use Answers in Bible Curriculum. This is such an amazing DEEP dive into the Bible, I can't even tell you. We don't follow their suggested schedule; we split the reading into two days and they work on the study notes while or right after I'm reading. That takes about 20 minutes. Then we do two days of the additional pages. If we only do a 4-day week, we only do 1 or 2 pages on one day. Then on Friday we do the review. It's seriously so good, my kids have remembered so much of what we have learned.

We also use AiG and are loving it. But it is also a multi-year program. We’re in year 1, which is creation-Joseph. We are learning a lot! And we also do it our own way with our own breakdown bc one lesson would be too long for my boys (and two toddler boys in the background).

I started my third grader with Apologia math, but I ended up switching him to Math with Confidence because it has the fun Hands-On activities like Apologia, but also has some type of constant review in each lesson. I didn't like how Apologia just stuck with one thing and then moved on to something different, without any type of constant review. I am using Apologia for my 6th grader, because Math with Confidence doesn't have 6th grade yet. And I will say, if Math with Confidence didn't exist, Apologia would definitely be my favorite. I like that they're simple and hands on. I'm glad you guys have found what works for you, and that you enjoy ❤

Science Shepherd is a very affordable, Christian, video based science. The elementary levels just have video and the workbook that goes with it. The High School levels have video, workbook, and the option for a textbook as well. My kids have really liked it. We also really love Generations. No video, but beautiful pictures and the most Christ centered curriculum we have ever used.

As far as Bible Apologetics goes Master Books truly excels in this area. I definitely recommend to take a look at what they have. It actually gives you a solid Biblical Foundation that is applied through God's word. And don't stress about having the last couple of years as rough. When you have little ones and infants I feel like it's a season of roughness. Once your little ones are a little bit older I think it will be a little smoother for you. Praying for an amazing rest of your year and great homeschool year for next year! You're doing great!

@HomegrownHomeschool Elementary apologetics is an awesome course by Master books. I know you have younger children but for the middle school you can do Foundations in Faith and Foundations in Worship. Both are amazing courses as well. They also have the best high school Bible apologetics when you get to that point. You can't go wrong with any of them

Yes!! You are not alone!! I am homeschooling my three oldest, with a baby and a toddler. It's SO CHALLENGING. Especially trying to do read-alouds! Which I'm trying to make more time for! 😂 I am SO BLESSED to be doing this, but it's SO CHALLENGING!! 🤣🤣

We love masterbooks math!!! I’m not good with history activities!!! I don’t mind curriculum taking longer but we make it work!!! Homeschooling isn’t easy but worth it!!!

I'm constantly looking for areas that we can simplify our homeschool, but it's still a challenge trying to figure out how to make things fit, and figure out the best rythym!! So hard! Have you looked into Answers Bible Curriculum for homeschoolers? It goes through the whole Bible and it's pretty simple and colorful. I really really loved it, but ended up cutting it out because my boys just hate bookwork pretty much of anykind. And we constantly need to simplify. 😢

Is it the answers in genesis one? If so, we have it but I haven’t used it yet. And yesssss to the rhythm part. I feel like even if you find a good rhythm one year it’s no longer good the next year!

@@hg8247 we’re actually using both for second grade. I think we might do the same for 3rd grade. Still deciding. I honestly think either one you go with would be a great choice. We have really enjoyed both. We’re using both for extra reinforcement.

With regard to History and prep for activities…I might be a scrooge mom 😂, but with a toddler and preschooler myself I am minimizing the activities and just focusing on discussion. 🤷🏻‍♀️ “I aint got no time for activities!”😂😂😂 Just a thought. ❤

We haven't figured science out yet either! Right now we're just doing different read-alouds and videos. But I really want to give Berean Builders elementary science a try. Because my kids really do love Hands-On stuff, I want to make time for science experiments! I never have before. And honestly never wanted to 😂 I have the first two books of their elementary series. I have not read through a complete lesson on my own yet, and I could be wrong but the reading portion may be a bit lengthy for my kiddos to sit through, and if that's true, I'm thinking to pre-read it myself and just take notes of the main points, and go over the main points with them in order to keep it simple. And each lesson has some type of an experiment. If I do decide to use it we would probably only do it two or three times a week. I've heard great things about it and it seems like a really good curriculum. You can also buy the science kit for it so you don't have to come up with items for each lesson. I've also been tempted to try The Good and the Beautiful science units. I've heard great things about them!
