Small justification for the riven boot swap :) The riven lucidity boots buy was deliberate, it lets her get the cdr she needs in order to surivive lane, jax outscales so she swaps later on. Also the gold value of lucidity boots is higher early game, as it has deminishing returns. So later when the cdr becomes less valuable he switches to tabis, which also have increased in value as the dps from autoattacks has become insane playing against zeri jax and camille.

I think the people who say "Riven is easy" is regarding her fairly simple gameplan. Someone like Kled or Ryze or surprisingly enough Teemo top have more complicated general gameplan pans than the "win lane, splitpush, join teamfights later" from Riven. Idea is that league mechanics, even with someone like Riven are really easy compared to other games in mechanics. This game really can never compare to a Street Fighter or Guilty Gear or Osu or Dark Souls, and if you have a background in any one of these more mechanically intense games league is a walk in the park. Big-picture gameplan, wave management, roaming, positioning, personal resource management, cooldown awareness are much more difficult skills in that case. And Riven with her no-mana good escape mobility super low cooldowns never really has to worry about this stuff more than the norm.

from playing riven myself back in the day when i actually played this game, even the best riven players struggle with map awareness just because the champ is so mechanically intensive, 1 missed auto and its the difference between getting a kill or dying yourself and the difference between getting a kill and snowballing or dying and being snowballed on is .. i dont even need to explain to anyone i think how big that is on this champion. no surprise his map is that big. i did the same thing when i played and it was still hard to watch other lanes/the minimap. compared to literally any other champion i d play or when i d play mid and . its night and day. couple things: he went tabi cause he has resolve 2nd - assuming unflinching and its pretty standard to go legend tenacity on riven. attack speed feels good early but its irrelevant pretty soon into games. riven into jax in the pure 1v1 after the first couple levels - basically 3 onwards - is riven favoured. elite riven players win this matchup cause worst case scenario you kite the jax with e-w and can even cancel his jump with Q3 if you re really really good and in the right situation where you stacked your Qs correctly expecting jax q to come through. best case scenario you kill him and snowball and he has to get something at 6 or because irrelevant till 2 items. the 1v1 botlane when riven had gore cleaver and blade had just sunderer looked closer than it would be. he knew nidalee was close and it affected the way he played it. if he had the full freedom to play it like he wanted in a straight 1v1, blade would still lose although midbeast is right. jax is a disgusting champ. at any point in league history once he finishes his first item and gets closer and closer to 11 he s a disgusting champ. thats why you see this champ so often in soloq if you play toplane even when its not a good meta pick cause.. the pressre is on the enemy team/laner. the jax can afford to go 0-4 and eventually, no matter what he ll become a monster anyway. whereas someone like riven - yes current itemization works really well in her favour - if she falls behind she s nothing.

the thing that i noticed that this riven does compared to the other ones you'll see in like. NA or rarely in EU (and a lot in CN as well, although maybe not as many as NA there either) is A: koreans definitely punish the smaller cooldown windows the riven has to cc her down in that duration if there is no flash up B: this riven played it more like an assassin in teamfights, going in to clean up kills or push the zeri out of the fight as opposed to diving in 1 v 5 and just being more mechanically talented than the other 5 people (like it is in NA with the 1 v 5 riven montages) C: Extremely patient instead of overly aggressive, which is definitely something you dont see as often in top lane in korea from what ive seen. smart quick trades where riven excels over extended trades where jax definitely wins it. this is just my opinion ofc, but all in all it was a good matchup to watch, it definitely coulda gone either way cuz TF was playing super well and drawing so much pressure for his team in the split push

@Tomica0312 жыл бұрын
She has no late game? Late game is decided by one teamfight, if you have flash and good angle you can solo kill adc and supp and end game. And this is one of best times for riven, yes we don't have bully asassin riven from season 3, but fighter items are broken right now, goredrinker+death dance+maw or sterak and you have so much shields+your e which is on 3-4 sec cd late game, goredrinker heal is huge, you can even take more shielding in secondary resolve runes if you want and bone plating. Just cause you don't know how to play and build riven doesn't mean she has no late game. Also looking statistics for one of hardest champs to play and master is so wrong, average riven player is so much worse than best riven, it is so much greater difference, same applies to all hard champs who require more than 100 games to even get a hang of.

@wargumbyx2 жыл бұрын
@@Tomica031 all of that is not true. rivens win rate is entirely determined by game time and meta. during the last season she was nerfed repeatedly and her win rate stayed high because she was favored early game against the champs being picked, then that changed and she dropped under 50% again till it changed back...prior to that vs mao and gnar and poppy and trundle and ornn she was at 46% for almost a year...and people still said op. also statistics consider only higher ranked players by both default and your own selections on various websites, and they all say the same thing, her win rate grows up to about 30mins and then rapidly declines with 45+ games being her lowest win rate because she cant in most cases get to anything she can kill and the many point and click hard cc champs destroy her in team fights...she is best with a kept lead early and mid game which is why in certain meta's she looks like she does well and better as you look at higher and higher ranks...but the champion is out dated and hasnt fit the modern game for years which is why except for viper going into pro games and rapidly needing pick other things, and the odd riven pick for the fans...you simply dont see her in pro play
@Tomica0312 жыл бұрын
@@wargumbyx I am not saying riven is best hypercarry late game, but saying she has no late game is wrong. She is not champ that falls off, she just doesn't hyperscale like jax, camille or irelia. Also, most people don't get riven playstyle, you have so much tools in your kit so you have so much expression. Riven is best at kiting and drawing pressure in solo lane, always able to 1v2 if in lead, or if you are against somene who outscales, also excells at extended fights. Like someone said, riven is all arounder, she is not best assasin or best fighter or most mobile, but she is so flexible and you can adjust your gameplay according to situation, you can be split pushing monster, you can peel for your adc if you have something like jinx/aphelios, you can approach teamfights from weird angles. Other thing riven is good at is applying pressure all over the map cause you can jump walls in jungle, so you can constantly push one lane and rush to other if you draw attention. Your first comment about riven not needing tp is so wrong, you don't think about game after 30min and say to yourself I need tp or ignite. You ask yourself if enemy top takes ignite am I screwed in lane? If answer is yes, than you also take ignite (most skill matchups like darius, irelia, fiora, jax, trynda)...I do agree tp as a spell for toplane is much worse this seasson cause of changes and you see no tp top in proplay often when same thing applies to early matchup. And only worse thing than watching statistics is looking at pro play hahahaha. Pro play is stale for years, almost every pro plays 5 champs and rotates them constantly. Also, proplay is a lot different than even high mmr soloqueue game. There is no reason for pro player to practice onetrick champs just for some countermatchups. At the end of the day, just watch adrian, viper or someone, ask them on stream is riven strong today, and if you don't trust what they say, you are dellusional. Also, this guy is soooo high rank with riven, so obviously champion is strong right now

Midbeast please do a review of Psychedelic 1 (EUW). He's the first person since Jebsu to hit Challenger with triforce on-hit Twisted Fate. He plays with either glacial augment or lethal tempo.

Blade got gapped, but having Ruler on Zeri is too much for every team, even a fed Riven.

At like 20:30 wouldn't it have been better for him to either keep pressuring their base and taking objectives while they did baron, or to have just rushed drake with lee and traded baron for drake? I feel like because they were down 2 teammates they never even should have tried contesting and instead just taken a turret or drake and cut their losses.

LordKebab7000 and built on EUW are both insane 1kLP+ riven players. Lordkebab streams too at ripped_lol he's a norwegian pro

18:55 The challenge with Riven isn't so much the mechanics themselves, it's knowing what to use when (and why).

That was a hard mid gap, the Camille was useless. Then they go and nerf TP while supports constantly roaming top as early as lv5-6. Clearly only bot lane and mid lane are allowed to roam into fights. Nobody tried to peel the Soraka either. Camille ult and Jax E and not one of them though to play fights to peel rather than dive and leave their backline open to Akali and Riven.

Midbeast being kinda nice to TFblade here the top gap was apparent -- Riven had a CS lead the whole game and ended 8/3 to Jax 1/4. K/D isn't everything of course, but Riven also matched Jax in the side lane well enough to stop him from splitpushing effectively (even if in the 1v1 jax wins head-on).
@deliquentOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Not really. The matchup played out exactly how it should have. If Riven knows what she's doing, she wins all trades level 3-5, and from there she can establish a good lead. That's exactly what Azhy did. The only way TFblade could've come out on top during laning phase is if he wasn't VSing the #1 Riven KR lol. As we saw, Jax wins the 1v1/split after level 11 with Sunderer. I think TFblade's only real mistake was grouping, but I wouldn't go as far to call it a top gap. When Riven had a full item on Jax he still pretty much beat her. Nidalee didn't even land her spear and Riven nearly died before she got there. The only reason Riven healed so much off that Goredrinker active was because Nidalee leapt in and procced it too, otherwise Riven would've died much sooner. From that point, on TFblade would've easily been able to solo pressure sides and deal with Riven no problem. He should've stayed split and kept Riven from joining fights. We know for sure after Riven dying in bot that there was no way she was beating Jax solo anymore.

So highest elo on tough server, Nidalee gets the drag 14:58 why does her team stay to fight afterwards? What do they have to gain?
@waterfoker85582 жыл бұрын
the issue with Riven for the past decade is that she's just a good all rounder but a master of none, she isn't the tankiest, nor the burstiest, getting ahead in items is not a good comparison and you can't rely on that, what if you get behind? She easily dominate laning phase, but during midgame and teamfights and late game, riven falls off heavily because she's not specialized into anything, she falls off to pure tanks or pure burst and adc. its just sad how some common slows/cc shuts down rivens. If anything, since its tank meta, i recommend going full-tank sheen riven build that allows you to make a difference in late game by jumping around, ccing people, and causing chaos while your team dps.
