After the oil and butter only video I have to admit I thought you were crazy. I’ve always thought I needed a heavy balm or even wax to get the look I wanted. I’m glad to say I was dead wrong. After just a week of oil and beard butter I am convinced it’s the best way to go. Same look as before but so much softer and easier to maintain through the day. I can even run a comb through after all night of working with no snags. Glad I stumbled upon your channel and after years of struggle and tons of money spent on balm and wax I feel free. Thanks for the great videos.

I was combing in the middle of the day, or on the way home, with a dry beard. I had increased shedding and then I talked with you and realized how bad it was. I liked how it "reset" everything and added volume, but now I just used my hands if I need to adjust. I definitely enjoy floral scents as well. Basically any scent that you like, I enjoy as well. I think the only time I use balm now, is if we are doing photos or I want to keep the sides a little more tamed. I really like Dr. Nicks where I can apply the balm directly, and not have it all over my hands as another thing I have to wash off. I do find I get a really small amount of styling from Nicks butter, but If I use any in the morning, it is a really small amount.

After watching an obscene amount of your videos (lol) I've figured out that what works for me the best is warm shower at night, followed by a heavy oil and heavier beard butter (Fable or Detroit). In the morning, cold rinse, and more oil-based beard butter only (Husky, Royal, or Beard Octane). I've found that reapplying oil in the morning hasn't been necessary when applying a heavier oil (Bahawat or Amish) and heavier butter after a shower at night. Thanks for all the great content.

Many days I will spray or mist my beard with water just enough to soften it up and make it easy to comb with a wide tooth comb or pick. Just a little more product. Usually butter or a light balm. Thanks for another great video Teach 🍻

Thanks for the video Dan. Yay, for opposable thumbs. After I started the cold rinse, oil in the morning and butter at night, there isn't much my beard needs at mid-day. If I'm going anywhere public, I'll use a comb before getting out of my truck to present a good beard image (we are all beard ambassadors). At the end of the day, late afternoon, my beard gets a through combing. Then bedtime butta. Repeat.

I apply oil usually beard octane. If I'm having a crazy beard day which happens more often now that's it's shorter I apply balm. But I've started carrying beard justice butter and now reapply it daily. I then comb it out with my pocket oxhorn from beard octane. Finish it off with a brush. I find that brushing makes my beard feel softer.

I have what would be considered here a short goatee, so my midday routine would consist of... a comb. During the day I'm usually out and about so a comb in the pocket is all I can carry. A quick check every few hours if I'm near a mirror with a sweep through if needed. Product is for the home, morning and evening.

Great video the bearded teacher! I don’t have a mid day beard routine, I wash my beard in the morning and use beard oil and beard butter and actually makes it stay in place and makes my beard look fuller! But reason why I don’t have a mid day routine is when I work, I work 12 hour days and don’t really have the time too plus I don’t want oil or butter sitting out in my car to melt or mess up the oil because of the summer heat!

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm at work wearing a beardnet for 12 hours, around 1:00 I will apply some oil and comb it. I have several empty sample bottles from bad ass that I use, just put what what I'm wearing in and I'm good. If I'm being a monster fighting 2 super heros, a little water then about 1/4 - 1/2 the amount of oil that I normally use and comb it.

You spoke about one of my through out the day mistakes & I loved it! I learned through out my beard journey that one of my biggest mistakes was combing my beard through out the day, although having oil & butter from the morning. Started to notice here & there some breakage along time. I learned that throughout the day using the palm of my hand & fingers I can shape it up & it would look. Thank you sir for guiding me through out this beard journey, I said it from the beginning that I wanted to go through a whole year without any cuts. At the end of next month will be a year, yes some bumps on the road but you learn to go around them bumps. You the best! Thank you Mr. C

No beard comb huh? I think growing a beard is like getting back to essentials, being a minimalist, and breaking out of societal constructs. Then I see these rustic macho ads for wooden combs, and my soul longs to have one. Next, I see posts like yours, and think I'm getting back to fundamental truths of existence by just using my fingers to do my beard and not buying that wooden comb.

Midday depending on the feel and state of the beard affects what I do. My beard tends to shrink up and bit during the day so I just get a bit of water in my hands and splash it on my beard then comb it through, then just shape it up a bit. If I find it to be very dry as it sometimes can be ill add a bit of oil or whipped beard butter, then comb it through and shape.

Well, you finally convinced me to try the Husky beard butter now that I'm moving away from balm as my main staple. Prices and shipping seemed reasonable. $3 shipping and free over $50. Very fair. After giving Grave Before Shave a try on their beard butter, I found I prefer this (butter) and oil. I liked the oil, but loose density in my beard and feels like it dries out halfway throughout the day. I'll save the oil for bed after I shower. I like balm for the back edges of the jawline to keep the beard tight looking. Looking forward to getting my fragrance samples and two butters I ordered (Midnight Charmer and Royale Black). Another great video. Thx.

Once again a great formative video..... I personally use oil because I realize by midday I start getting the itchies so I use a good oil and then use a wooden comb to it spread it out evenly. My only concern is am I using too much oil throughout the day? if you could maybe answer that question or even do a video that would be awesome. Keep up the amazing hard work you are the true trusted beard teacher.
@DanCBearded5 жыл бұрын
The point where you are using too much oil would be if 30 minutes after applying oil, run your hands through the face of your beard. If your hand becomes all greasy, you are using too much

The only thing I have to do throughout the day is comb. And it’s like once an hour. I’ll blow dry it down, straighten it, oil and balm it, leave the house with it looking exactly how I want. Then between living it just like raises out of place. It’s not really curling but it just doesn’t...stay. I don’t get it. But I’m hoping the beard just isn’t heavy enough to stay down yet. So one day lol

I agree with using the hands. The humidity is extremely high here and causes my very straight hair to fro out badly. The more I comb my beard, the more it will actually start to curl. And I mean fast. Sometimes in less than 5 or 6 strokes the sides of my beard can curl like i put freakin curlers in it or something. So hands only for me throughout the day. I feel like I'm only about an inch, maybe inch and a half behind you. But between my profession, a collard shirt, & humidity, my hair hardly ever lays down. This is my 19th year as an automotive tech and literally within the first 5 minutes of my day ill be grinding my chin on my shoulders, or having my shirt collar jammed up in the side of my face while i'm folded up under someones nasty dash. On the weekends i can keep it pretty crisp though because of your guidance. Thanks you sir.
