Yeah actually the witch king was immune to the blades of mortal men (and hobbits) the blade merry stabbed him with was cursed and eowyn was conviently a woman so no it wasn't much of a trope than it was pure logic

@NuclearBomb-ow4zf ah, but her lineage made her part elf, I believe, if I'm not mistaken. She wasn't a descendant of man in the classical sense, I would need to look into it again for exact details, but ai remember something about her bloodline being specific for this task as well. As many times when Tolkien says "man", he means mankind. This apples to women too. So unless I am entirely mistaken and been mixing up my lore a lot, Eowyn wasn't a man, as in wasn't 100% human.
