Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Ratbag Returns

I told you to never count him out.
An extension of the process I used for my "No Nemesis" video. This time going back to the first region with Ratbag as our loyal ally.
In theory, you should also be able to scare him away during Lord of Mordor and let him kill you back in Udûn. Imagine the confusion other players will get when a Vendetta shows up and the target is Ratbag.

I remember I had this one Uruk that refused to die, but was never a real threat to me. When we first met, I grabbed him and threw him off a bridge as soon as he did his speech, defeating him instantly. Turns out he was a pansy that had no defenses against grabs. Then, after that, he kept coming back with more and more scars, eventually getting bandages covering most of his face. I felt bad for him, he was like Team Rocket in a way - showing up, talks mighty and then I kick his ass, always by throwing him off of high places. I refused to beat him any other way, he *had* to be thrown off of a high place, I made it my mission to do it this way. Eventually, though, he just got replaced by someone else. It was a truly devastating moment to me. I'm forever going to miss Urmag, the flying Uruk. May the dirt in which he falls upon always cushion his descent.

He wasn't! My actual nemesis I had found early on in the game, a blademaster I forgot the name of, sadly. The coolest part of my nemesis is that he wasn't the kind of guy that would kill me in one hit, but the son of a bitch spawned with pretty much resistances to everything except stealth, but he had the uncanny ability to actually sneak up on ME. I couldn't snipe him with my bow and couldn't land finishers on him at all... So, every time he would show up, we would slap each other around for what felt like hours. He killed me a couple times, I beat him a couple others, it was a true rivalry I hadn't experienced before in games. I'm sad I forgot his name, but I'll never forget how satisfying it was to finally chop off his head during Lord of Mordor - the final encounter to end all encounters.

Goldva lol, my nemesises were just captains that I had encountered and thy had ran away, killed me or been killed and came back. In my first playthrough I had this weak archer fellow who killed me, then became a captain, I killed him, he came back with a hood and scars, then he became a bodyguard and kept one hitting me. I forgot about him when I went to Nurn and killed him in lord of mordor quite easily. My second playthrough nemesis was weak guy who I had stun killed and had came back who I didn't want to kill because he looked cool. Alas, I couldn't brand him in lord of Mordor as one of my war chiefs killed him instantly. Hopefully I'll get a proper nemesis in war

This was the same as my nemesis. Blade master, and invulnerable to ranged but weak to stealth. Yet every time I encountered him, it was him ambushing me while I'm already fighting 50 dudes. I swear I'd avoid the last place I encountered him and he'd just pop up all over the map to give me hell. Somehow I couldn't damage him. Since finishers were out I'd just spam flurry and re-stun him before the last hit. I did this over ten times in a row once and didn't see his health budge at all. Eventually I gave him a lame death. He had the fast runner perk, so I'd just aggro him and then lead him far away from the others, find a tower to climb, wait at the top until he forgot about me and then drop in for the stealth kill.

Matt Damon I think that they made this choice because of the new Nemesys: in SoM, a branded Uruk would loose his personality and become a sort of zombie. By what they said, now the branded Uruks would only acquire a certain loyalty to Celebrimbor, depending on the difference between their level of power and Celebrimbor's. Now they also are able to betray Talion, and it seems that the developers insisted on the depth of the nemesys. Giving an arbitrary look wouldn't fit really well the remarkable new personalities of the uruks. I hope the explanation is clear enough and I apologize for my mistakes, because I'm not a native English speaker :-)

Ratbag is likely dead (Sauron's mace to the face and all) but I can see Az-laar becoming the Ratbag equivalent. Ratbag died in the first trailer to Shadow of Mordor and people loved him so much they put him in the game proper as a tutorial for the Nemesis System, would make sense they do it again with everybody's favorite Olog-Hai.

After many MANY attempts, I can finally say with pride that i managed to get Ratbag just as Uruk's Hollow described. The hardest part is everything in Udun, you need to do all the weapon missions and slave rescue missions in order to have enough ability points to unlock all the things you need to behead captains as well as useful thing you can't play without like elven speed. On top of that the 2 abilities you need are on the 3rd tier so you need to attend power struggles in order to gain enough power to unlock the 3rd tier but you can't let any captains die in the power struggles or die yourself. Then even when you have all the abilities you need and you're ready to start beheading, RNG could get in the way and a captain could get killed by a caragor or something, thus ruining the run. But if you can successfully take the head of everyone in Udun so Ratbag is the only one with his head then you can go to Nurn and Nurn is a breeze. Branding is much easier than beheading and you don't need to spend time doing side missions for ability points because at this point you should already have everything you need. Do all that and Ratbag should appear just like in the video. Also, after I branded him and went back to Udun, the stronghold Ratbag spawns in for me is Uruk's Hollow on the east side of the map and that can't be any more fitting

@sackett andres I don't believe so. The online service for Shadow of Mordor ended, which I think means you can't transfer anymore. Even if you could still transfer, I don't think it would work on Ratbag because you can only brand him through an exploit.

0:58 - 1:10 He still is killed, it`s just that the Nemesis System didn`t replace him with another Captain because all Captains were perma-killed via decapitation. Or short, there weren`t any living Uruk Commanders for Sauron to replenish the power vacuum at the top, so he had to revive Ratbag and had him man up the gate to The Tower`s HQ while Talion was doing the Branding havoc in Nûrn! XD

My bad, we only see him being "killed" in that cutscene and on the system, but whenever he`s actually killed or not is still up in the air, kind of like with those infamous Captains that return back from being "killed" (not decapitated). Even though I`ve got info that once you kill the Warchief, they stay perma-dead as well even if you didn`t take their head off, mostly because they soon get replaced by others.

Bedrock The Guy No mate, he's fucking dead. He's a normal Orc, a weak one at that, and he got smacked in the face with a mace so hard he flew backwards, like Sauron was doing at the start of lotr. He definitely did mean to kill him as well, because it's obvious he despises Orcs and Uruks alike, and I mean, he hit him in the face with a mace so hard he flew up into the air. If he wasn't dead, he would still have been a war chief. He wasn't. So rip

3:33 MOTIVE: Bent on teaching them all the true meaning of fear. Yep, sure 😂. This was an awesome experiment, I thank you for your laboring. Personally, I also had some ideas to try and break the game or get some crazy things to happen (just started first playthrough a couple weeks ago) on a second save but to no avail. I put a death threat out on Ratbag before meeting him - officially, not including his proximity dialogue - and got a kick out of the inferred narrative that he was deemed stronger than his captor, Goroth (P8), with P9 even though he only had his standard fears of ghûls, graugs, and Morgai flies. Guess Talion threatening his life is more substantial than being invulnerable to ranged, having a heavy attack, and being a gang leader 😂. I was able to complete the hunting challenges through killing a graug by triggering ghûl spawning through something in the Test of Defiance. Not sure if it was simply being in Nurn, collecting the unique herbs, encountering warchiefs, or what. Well whatever triggered ghûl presence also bumped the minimum unknown newbie captain power up to like 8 or so, spawned caragor in the wild (where I don't believe they were encountered yet), allowed for runes related to abilities not yet learned to be found, and gave Talion some appendix entries he shouldn't really have just one main mission in. It's a weird experience, no power struggles whatsoever but unfought captains who aren't pushovers. I'll update if I find anything else out but don't want to pay $25 for the season pass so it might be a while.

Recently I was leveling up my warchief in riots. And in one of them he was against combat master(I always help my branded/non-branded favorites in power struggles, since when I don't they always die), so I went ahead and started scoring combo points in flurry and stopping to prematurely to sent two wraith blasts to not trigger his combat master and damage him at the same time. But my flurries and blasts sent us both so far away from warchief that game scored him win for some reason and system counted that combat master dead, even though he was alive and not even green for me in the world. Sadly, even branding did not help, after it he was just dead and branded on the army screen. I couldn't even command him, because game was treating him as dead and was not allowing me to issue actual command, but I was able to go into command screen after dominating him. When I dismissed him he never returned, as expected, but still, this glitch was really strange. Before game scored win for my warchief we was too far away with combat master and he was not willing to chase me back to warchief, he was just standing and throwing axes at me.
