how do you make the sound where ppl normally play a bass note? so on beats 1, 4, 7? how do i make that sound on my darbuka (complete beginner here ... i hope i will one day master this wonderful instrument .... i don't desire to become a darbuka master to show off to others, but i wanna master it in the sense that i take it into my hands and just naturally let the rhythms flow out of my fingers like sweet honey and fragrant flowers.... oh yeah....!! ) ....long way to go.... just bought my first darbouka for 40 euros .... looks very nice, but i am not sure if the sound is not so good, or if i just haven't learned to coax the right ear-pleasing sounds out of that thing... any recommendation what to learn after malfuf? or better stick with malfuf and try to add some improvised ornamentation or whatever...? Don't know any darbuka players .... not common in my country..... maybe is should look if there are teachers on skype...? Anyway, thanks a lot for making & uploading the video - very nice playalong, perfectly suitable for an absolute beginner, not too long - 5 stars ;)

The bass sound is done by hitting the center of the drumhead, the higher ones near the rim. Don't worry if that bass doesn't sound like this recording, i'm pretty sure there's an added bass drum to this track, with a much deeper sound and clearer tone. Maksum would be a good thing to lear alfter this, çifteteli as well (tsifteteli)
