Most unusual approach in. It was that fire damage for sure. Would be interesting to see it in a few years time. Another great adventure. Ha ha, didn't die today - great to see everyone happy. Mark

@@WithinHikingDistance I still think it was an unusual route in and it would still be good to see it in a few years. A pleasure. It's good to talk.

When I did that same climb back in 2008 or 2009, there was no snow, but I don’t remember there being anything so steep as what you refer to as the “fixed line section”. This does seem like a good training ground for the technical parts of Mount Hood.

Absolutely amazing! Those views from the peek are incredible! The climb tot he top was slow and steady the slide down after looked fun 😁😁😁 🤠🌲

Great video! Thank you! A couple questions for you- 1. roughly how many vertical feet was the section where you ascended the fixed line? 2. have you climbed Mt Hood, specifically prior to the middle sister climb? I'm trying to get an idea of the steepness of the steep section on Middle. I solo climbed Mt Hood via the 1 oclock couloir in june 2024, so that's my baseline for steepness. Thanks!

I have climbed Hood before Middle Sister up through the Pearly Gates. The steep section was maybe 200 ft. There were other people who had 2 ice axes climbing that section without a rope.

Great video. Can this be done by beginners?
@WithinHikingDistance2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the season. In summer when the snow melts, the steep part will probably just be a steep walk up without snow. During winter, the steep part may require a rope for a fixed line. Except for that steep section, the trail could be done by beginners. You'd just have to evaluate that steep section below the summit.
