Period? Are you American? I didn't know midge made it over there..

@@paulanthony5274 Yes i am. However, I suppose musically i was in the American minority back in the 80’s. Most the people i knew back then were only into top 20 or American rock music but fortunately MTV exposed a lot of us to British punk and new wave. Many of is who loved it were actually ridiculed by most our friends in school. They had this idiot mentality that everyone should all listen to the same mainstream crap music or there was something wrong with us. But i did have a small group of friends who loved it as much as i did and Midge Ure and Ultravox was certainly at the top of our list along with Erasure, Depeche Mode, Adam and the Ants etc. Some is here have always just preferred European style and music in general over our boring American mainstream crap.

@@Xcorgi That's great although Adam and the ants were globally big I think even in the states. I was into Erasure for years after being into Ultravox then around 1989 90 The Happy Mondays then Oasis both bands from my city manchester. Although the Mondays were from Salford really but still the madchester scene.. Lots of good bands didn't make it over there for some reason. I'm not into boy bands but have you heard of Take that? They did an excellent song called ' Back for good' have a listen if you haven't heard it. Now I just listen to old stuff like Pink Floyd Led Zep because modern music is terrible both sides of the pond. Cheers buddy..

@@paulanthony5274 i agree with you on all counts except Ant Music in general wasn’t in the American mainstream until the release of “Goody Two Shoes” which in my opinion was his least appealing song. Speaking of Manchester, lets not forget Morrissey and The Smiths! They weren’t mainstream in America at all but also one of my absolute faves till this day. I also really loved Madness and also The Specials even though im not sure if they were part of all the talent pouring out of Manchester at that time.

@@Xcorgi Yes The smiths I liked them and Joy Division The Stone Roses. But the best album out of all the top manchester bands has to be definitely maybe by Oasis nit a bad tune on there. Apologize for Adam and the ants it's jyst I remember Adam ant saying years later after they released dog eat dog they became the biggest band in the world, I just asumed they made it over there also. Adam and the ants sounded good back then but unfortunately they haven't aged well in the main stream. You never hear them on radio 2 who play all the old stuff. I think they were a novelty really. Today it sounds kind of odd like a load of native Americans and English pirates having a good time lol. Enjoyed chatting cheers Xcorgi p.s If you still like Adam ant then that's cool. All to there own. And yes goody two shoes isn't half as good as the tracks off the first two albums .
