I met Bill Cantrell in Madison Indiana, he was in business with Graham Heath repairing or building driveshafts. I got to know Graham better, both were so full of stories about all sorts of racing. Bill drove hydroplanes, stock cars, indy cars, you name it, he drove it. He also wrestled professionally, as well as being a game warden. Bill ran out of water one time and parked his unlimited hydroplane in someone's back yard. He bitched about never having to walk back from a boat race before.

Orange Show Raceway (San Bernardino. ca) still there. Asphalt now. These races were held at the L.A coliseum, the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, ca) Gilmore stadium, (long Beach, ca) no longer. Vic Edelbrock sr. Raced these , and was the first to add low levels of nitro to his fue , and not tell anyone. Winning alot of races.

You try being a kid during WW1, living in the Great Depression, working through WW2. He was finally living a decent life at that point.
